Even though adnominal adjectives in Old English are distributionally versatile in that they may precede, follow or flank the noun they modify, their positioning is not random but follows from systematic interpretive contrasts between pre- and postnominal adjectives, such as ‘attribution vs predication’, ‘individual-level vs stage-level reading’ and ‘restrictive vs non-restrictive modification’. These contrasts are largely independent of adjectival inflection (pace Fischer 2000, 2001, 2006). Reflecting on work processes together with one's co-workers is becoming increasingly important in workplaces. This study examined collaborative reflection in the organizational context through analyzing a case of a complex workplace setting where an enterprise social media platform, talk-in-interaction, and handwriting were used to engage participants in the process of reflection. Drawing on the concept of remediation, the results show that collaborative reflection is interactionally accomplished through a multimedial activity chain, in which the ownership of presented ideas is transformed from individual ideas into shared views of the team. Bilingual preschool education is under researched compared with bilingual school education. There is also a lack of research on bilingual preschool teachers’ agency and how they negotiate between two languages in the classroom. We examined the language practices of five bilingual preschool teachers working within three different socio-linguistic settings, in Finland (Finnish–Swedish and Russian–Finnish contexts) and Israel (an Arabic–Hebrew context) and interviewed the teachers about their use of languages in the classroom. En aquest treball, analitzem la subclasse de verbs incoatius del català, pertanyent a la tercera conjugació, aplicant el concepte d’exaptació (Lass 1990), que serveix per a explicar canvis que consisteixen en la reutilització de material morfològic no funcional: en els verbs incoatius, el procés d’exaptació consisteix en el reciclatge d’un afix lèxic com a increment del radical quan perd el valor semàntic inicial de ‘canvi d’estat’ i queda relegat a certs verbs de la tercera conjugació. Aquesta reutilització funcional comporta l’aparició d’una subclasse de verbs dins de la tercera conjugació que, a causa de la seua estabilitat, ha esdevingut el model flexiu majoritari d’aquesta conjugació. …
Electrically induced deformation of giant liposomes monitored by thickness shear mode resonators.

Thickness shear mode resonators are capable of registering small changes in the thickness and viscoelastic properties of ultrathin films attached to their surface. It was found that it is possible to monitor the deformation of surface-bound giant liposomes by applying an electric field with small amplitudes. Changes in the apparent height of attached vesicles in the nanometer range were easily detected as a function of lipid composition. Increasing the bending modulus by adding cholesterol results in a significantly reduced deformation from 16.8 nm (5% cholesterol) down to 3.2 nm (20% cholesterol), rendering this new method a robust and sensitive tool to detect the bending elasticity of lip…

Abstract Flow Channel Inserts (FCIs) are key elements in the high-temperature Dual Coolant Lead Lithium (DCLL) blanket, since they insulate electrically the flowing PbLi to avoid MHD effects and protect the steel structure from the hot liquid metal. SiC-based materials are main candidates for high-temperature FCIs, being a dense-porous SiC-based sandwich material an attractive option.
