Origin and destiny of subjectivity: from professional roles to treatment processes, through an interpretation of the remains of the day by kazuo ishi…
2019
This reflection addresses a very important topic for care professions, with a special look at psychotherapy. To clarify the role of subjectivity and the birth and maturation of a professional role, I will present an analysis of a literary text through which it will be easier to find out how the identity of a professional role is formed and starts to mature and get codified. In particular, what are the risks associated with its rigid codification to its technical normative? I intend to draw a comparison with some subjectivity building forms that have founded the Western human’s model in its professional articulations over the centuries.
Agency displays in stories of drunk driving: Subjectivity, authorship, and reflectivity
2012
This study examined 30 stories of drunk driving (DD) recounted by repeat offenders in the early phase of a court-mandated counseling program. The focus of analysis was on displays of agency in the narrators’ portrayal of themselves as protagonists in the stories. The expressions of subjectivity, authorship, and reflectivity were considered as constructors of agency positions. In the analysis of the videotaped and transcribed stories, five story types of agency were found. They displayed the narrator-protagonists’ agency positions as either unconcerned, weak, egotistical, akratic, or disowned. The quality of telling is viewed as expressing the narrators’ problematic agency positions, readine…
A penetration depth study on the non-centrosymmetric superconductors Li2(Pd1−xPtx)3B
2008
Abstract We study the superconducting order parameter in the non-centrosymmetric compounds Li 2 (Pd 1− x Pt x ) 3 B ( x =0, 0.3, 0.7 and 1) by measuring magnetic penetration depth λ ( T ). The low temperature λ ( T ) shows a linear temperature dependence for x ⩾0.3, but follows exponential-like behavior for lower Pt contents. These findings suggest that a spin-triplet state might gradually develop with increasing x due to the broken inversion symmetry.
Andreev Reflection at Point Contacts with Heavy-FermionUBe13?
2000
We comment on a recent Letter by Waelti et al. (PRL 84, 5616 (2000)) on 'Spectroscopic evidence for unconventional superconductivity in UBe13'. We show - by using the basic Wexler formula - that it is unlikely to observe Andreev reflection at point contacts between UBe13 and a normal metal. The large superconducting anomalies usually found for those contacts are mainly due to the resistive Maxwell resistance vanishing below Tc of UBe13.
Nonlocal pure spin current injection via quantum pumping and crossed Andreev reflection
2005
A pure spin current injector is proposed based on adiabatic pumping and crossed normal/Andreev reflection. The device consists of a three-terminal ferromagnet-superconductor-semiconductor system in which the injection of a pure spin current is into the semiconductor which is coupled to the superconductor within a coherence length away from the ferromagnet enabling the phenomena of crossed normal /Andreev reflection to operate. Quantum pumping is induced by adiabatically modulating two independent parameters of the ferromagnetic lead, namely the magnetization strength and the strength of coupling between the ferromagnet and the superconductor. The competition between the normal/Andreev refle…
Disentangling cardiovascular control mechanisms during head-down tilt via joint transfer entropy and self-entropy decompositions
2015
A full decomposition of the predictive entropy (PE) of the spontaneous variations of the heart period (HP) given systolic arterial pressure (SAP) and respiration (R) is proposed. The PE of HP is decomposed into the joint transfer entropy (JTE) from SAP and R to HP and self-entropy (SE) of HP. The SE is the sum of three terms quantifying the synergistic/redundant contributions of HP and SAP, when taken individually and jointly, to SE and one term conditioned on HP and SAP denoted as the conditional SE (CSE) of HP given SAP and R. The JTE from SAP and R to HP is the sum of two terms attributable to SAP or R plus an extra term describing the redundant/synergistic contribution to the JTE. All q…
Inflection points and topology of surfaces in 4-space
2000
We consider asymptotic line fields on generic surfaces in 4-space and show that they are globally defined on locally convex surfaces, and their singularities are the inflection points of the surface. As a consequence of the generalized Poincare-Hopf formula, we obtain some relations between the number of inflection points in a generic surface and its Euler number. In particular, it follows that any 2-sphere, generically embedded as a locally convex surface in 4-space, has at least 4 inflection points.
Ordered structures of DNA on Au(110)
2008
Reflection Anisotropy Spectroscopy (RAS) is used to confirm that both single stranded (ss) and double stranded (ds) DNA formed ordered structures when adsorbed at Au(110)/phosphate buffer interface. The variation of the spectral intensity shows a cos 2θ dependence on the angle θ, which lies between the electric vector of the incident polarised light and the optical axes of the surface plane of the Au(110) establishing that the optical axes of both molecules are aligned with those of the Au(110) surface.
