On-line laser spectroscopy of refractory radioisotopes at the JYFL IGISOL facility
1998
A major objective of the laser-IGISOL program has been realized with the first ever on-line observation of collinear laser induced fluorescence from an ion of a refractory element. The measurements demonstrate that the IGISOL can be operated in a mode that produces ion beams of good emittance with reasonable extraction efficiency. The technique has been used to study the neutron-deficient Hf isotopes.
Search for very long-lived isomers in the hafnium-tungsten region

Targets of ${}^{48}\mathrm{Ca}$ have been bombarded with ${}^{134,136}\mathrm{Xe}$ beams as part of a search for long-lived, high-K states in well-deformed nuclei with $A\ensuremath{\approx}180.$ Several known isomers were observed by off-line \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray detection, and limits have been established for high-K isomer production in various isotopes of hafnium $(A=175--178),$ tantalum $(A=177--181),$ and tungsten $(A=177--181).$

Abstract In fractional viscoelasticity the stress–strain relation is a differential equation with non-integer operators (derivative or integral). Such constitutive law is able to describe the mechanical behavior of several materials, but when fractional operators appear, the elastic and the viscous contribution are inseparable and the characteristic times (relaxation and retardation time) cannot be defined. Analysis of infilled frames using A coupled finite element and boundary element solution scheme

The behaviour of infilled frames subjected to horizontal loads is analysed by an iterative numerical procedure. The stiffness of the structural system is determined with variations in geometrical and mechanical characteristics. The analysis is carried out utilizing the boundary element method (BEM) for the infill and opportunely dividing the frame into finite elements, so as to transform the mutual interactions of the two subsystems into stresses distributed along the boundary for the infill and into nodal actions for the frame. Design and implementation of a portable fNIRS embedded system

We report on the design, development and operation of a portable, low cost, battery-operated, multi-channel, functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy embedded system, hosting up to 64 optical sources and 128 Silicon PhotoMultiplier optical detectors. The system is realized as a scalable architecture, whose elementary leaf consists of a probe board provided with 16 SiPMs, 4 couples of bi-color LED, and a temperature sensor, built on a flexible stand. The hardware structure is very versatile because it is possible to handle both the switching time of the LED and the acquisition of the photodetectors, via an ARM based microcontroller.

The minimum volume design of elastic perfectly plastic steel frames subjected to fixed and cyclic loads is searched in such a way that the structure remains in elastic field in serviceability conditions, while it is subjected to alternating plasticity under very strong cyclic actions, incremental and instantaneous collapse being prevented. The problem is faced on the grounds of a statical and a kinematical approach.
