Planar Benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene Derivatives Decorated with Nitronyl and Imino Nitroxides
2018
Four weakly antiferromagnetic interacting biradicals of benzo[1,2- b:4,5- b']dithiophene (BDT) and BDT extended with two thiophenes (BDTTh2) linked with nitronyl and imino nitroxides (NN and IN) as BDT-NN, BDT-IN, BDTTh2-NN, and BDTTh2-IN were designed, synthesized, and characterized. Short intermolecular π-π distances were found (3.42 A) for BDT-NN, whereas larger ones were found for BDT-IN (3.54 A) and BDTTh2-NN (3.67 A), respectively. Intramolecular magnetic interaction ( Jintra,exp/ kB) of BDT-NN (-26 K) is much larger than for BDT-IN (-5.3 K), while it is reduced for the dithiophene-extended molecule BDTTh2-NN (-2.3 K). Intermolecular interactions ( zJinter,exp/ kB) of BDT-NN (-6.5 K) …
Synthesis of substituted piperidines by enantioselective desymmetrizing intramolecular aza-Michael reactions.
2018
An organocatalytic enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction has been described for the first time in a desymmetrization process employing substrates different from cyclohexadienones. By using 9-amino-9-deoxy-epi-hydroquinine as the catalyst and trifluoroacetic acid as a co-catalyst, a series of enantiomerically enriched 2,5-and 2,6-disubstituted piperidines have been obtained in good yields and with moderate diastereoselectivity. Depending on the catalyst/co-catalyst loading ratio, either the major or the minor diastereoisomer of the final piperidine products was achieved with high levels of enantioselectivity. Finally, some mechanistic insights have been considered by means of …
Vinyl Fluorides: Competent Olefinic Counterparts in the Intramolecular Pauson–Khand Reaction
2019
Despite the great advances achieved in the Pauson-Khand reaction and the ever-increasing demand for fluorinated compounds, the use of vinyl fluorides as olefinic counterparts in the above-mentioned transformation had been completely overlooked. Herein, we describe, for the first time, the intramolecular Pauson-Khand reaction of enynes containing a vinyl fluoride moiety.
Oxotris(oxalate)niobate(V): An oxalate delivery agent in the design of building blocks
2018
This work concerns the oxalate delivery process that occurs when using (NH4)3[NbO(C2O4)3]·6H2O as a suitable oxalate source in the synthesis of two compounds, [Cu(dmphen)(C2O4)(H2O)] (1) and [{Cu(dmphen)(CH3OH)}2(μ-C2O4)](ClO4)2 (2) (dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline). {[Fe{HB(pz)3}(CN)2(μ-CN)]2[{Cu(dmphen)}2(μ-C2O4)]}∙xCH3OH (3) (2.0 ≤ x ≤ 2.4) was obtained by reacting 2 and PPh4[Fe{HB(pz)3}(CN)3]∙H2O [ = tetraphenylphosphonium and = tris(pyrazolyl)borate]. Crystal structures of 1–3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments: 1 is a mononuclear trigonal bipyramidal copper(II) species, 2 is a centrosymmetric oxalato-bridged dicopper(II) complex, and 3 consi…
A novel two-dimensional organostannoxane coordination network promoted by phenazine: Synthesis, characterization and X-ray structure of
2009
Abstract Reaction of the dimeric hydroxo di-n-butylstannane trifluoromethanesulfonato complex [n-Bu2Sn(μ-OH)(H2O)0.5(η1-O3SCF3)]2 (1) with phenazine (C12H8N2, Phz) (2) in dichloromethane at room temperature in a 1:3 molar ratio yielded the novel two-dimensional organometallic coordination polymer 2 ∞ { [ n - Bu 2 ( μ -OH ) SnOSn ( μ - η 2 - O 3 SCF 3 ) n - Bu 2 ] 2 [ n - Bu 2 ( μ -OH ) SnOSn ( η 1 - O 3 SCF 3 ) n - Bu 2 ] 2 } (3), together with the phenazinium trifluoromethanesulfonate salt [C12H9N2]+ [CF3SO3]−, crystallographically isolated in two different structural arrangements, free 4 and in π–π aromatic stacking interaction with independent intercalated non-protonated phenazine molecu…
Synthesis, crystal structures and magnetic properties of picolinate-bridged copper(II) chains
2018
The paper reports the synthesis, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of two copper(II) coordination polymers, Cu2(L1)4 (1) and Cu3(L2)6 (2), based on rigid ethynylene-bridged ditopic ligands containing one picolinate subunit (L1 = 5-(pyridin-3-ylethynyl)picolinate anion; L2 = 5-((4-(methoxycarbonyl)phenyl)ethynyl)picolinate anion). Both 1 and 2 have a chain structure. In 1, the repeating unit in the chain is a doubly bridged picolinate dicopper(II) complex, whereas 2 is built upon trimeric units where the Cu2+ ions are also connected by double picolinate bridges. Both compounds exhibit antiferromagnetic interactions in the solid state. The magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were analyze…
Dicopper(II) pyrazolenophanes: Ligand effects on their structures and magnetic properties
2016
Abstract The use of simple pyrazolate anions and related polychelating acyclic or macrocyclic pyrazolate derivatives as bridging ligands, and occasionally additional blocking ligands, has led to the stereospecific Cu II -mediated self-assembly of both homo- and heteroleptic di-μ-pyrazolatodicopper(II) complexes of the metallacyclophane type, so-called dicopper(II) pyrazolenophanes. Besides their unique molecular conformation features and binding abilities toward both neutral molecules and charged anionic species, which have illustrated the putative role of weak intramolecular π–π stacking, hydrogen bonding, and coordinative interactions in the self-assembling process, dicopper(II) pyrazolen…
Solution Conformation and Self‐Assembly of Ferrocenyl(thio)ureas
2016
Conformations and (dis)assembly processes of ureas and thioureas are of fundamental importance in supramolecular chemistry, anion binding, or crystal engineering, both in solution and in the solid state. For sensing and switching processes a redox-active unit, such as the ferrocene/ferrocenium couple, is especially suitable. Here, self-assembly processes of redox-active ferrocenyl(thio)ureas FcNHC(X)NHR [X = O, R = Fc (1), Ph (2), 1-naphthyl (3), Me (4), Et (5); X = S, R = Fc (6), 1-anthracenyl (7)] through hydrogen bonds – both in the solid state and in THF and CH2Cl2 solution – are reported. Special emphasis is placed on the impact of nonclassical intramolecular NH···Fe hydrogen bonds in …
Reversible O–H bond activation by an intramolecular frustrated Lewis pair
2019
The interactions of the O-H bonds in alcohols, water and phenol with dimethylxanthene-derived frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) have been probed. Within the constraints of this backbone framework, the preference for adduct formation or O-H bond cleavage to give the corresponding zwitterion is largely determined by pKa considerations. In the case of the PPh2/B(C6F5)2 system and p-tBuC6H4OH, an equilibrium is established between the two isomeric forms which allows the thermodynamic parameters associated with zwitterion formation via O-H bond cleavage to be probed.
