Interesujące gatunki chrząszczy (Coleoptera) z Puszczy Piskiej

W lipcu 2002 roku huragan zniszczył drzewostany na znacznym obszarze Puszczy Piskiej. Część uszkodzonego lasu – 475 ha – pozostawiono bez ingerencji (Las Ochronny „Szast”) – do naturalnej sukcesji. W latach 2005–2021 badano chrząszcze na wybranych powierzchniach pohuraganowych i kontrolnych. Do odłowów stosowano różne typy pułapek (IBL-2bis, Netocia, Moerickego). Uzupełnieniem były odłowy Coleoptera metodą „na upatrzonego” oraz analizy potencjalnego materiału lęgowego chrząszczy. W sumie w trakcie badań wykazano 1000 gatunków Coleoptera. Ptiliolum marginatum (Aube, 1850) (Coleoptera: Ptiliidae)– gatunek nowy dla Polski z Białowieskiego Parku Narodowego

We present the first record of Ptiliolum marginatum for Poland. The specimens have been extracted from two nests of the wood warbler Phylloscopus sibilatrix in 2020, during investigations of the invertebrate fauna inhabiting bird nests. The samples were collected in the strictly protected part of the Białowieża National Park, in eastern Poland. We provide general information on the geographical distribution of Ptiliolum marginatum in Europe, the state of knowledge of the genus Ptiliolum in Poland, and further documentation including colour photographs of dorsal and ventral habitus, and characteristic features of hind femora and spermatheca of females.

Bacteria from acidic to strongly alkaline insect midguts: Potential sources of extreme cellulolytic enzymes

Abstract Bacterial isolates from the European Corn Borer (ECB) Ostrinia nubilalis and the coleopteran Colorado Potato Beetle (CPB) Leptinotarsa decemlineata midguts were identified and characterized. Twenty-four colonies, selected on solid media with cellulose as the sole carbon source and pH values ranging from 5 to 12, were identified through 16S sequencing as members of the genera Acinetobacter , Comamonas , Klebsiella , Microbacterium , Micrococcus and Sphingobacterium . Abstract Few studies have considered the effect of organic amendments on soil microbial activity and its contributions to hydraulic conductivity under field conditions in semiarid region soils with different textures and degrees of aggregate stability. Dyslexia is a common neurocognitive learning disorder that can seriously hinder individuals’ aspirations if not detected and treated early. Multi-modality of polysomnography signals’ fusion for automatic sleep scoring

Abstract Objective The study aims to develop an automatic sleep scoring method by fusing different polysomnography (PSG) signals and further to investigate PSG signals’ contribution to the scoring result. Methods Eight combinations of four modalities of PSG signals, namely electroencephalogram (EEG), electrooculogram (EOG), electromyogram (EMG), and electrocardiogram (ECG) were considered to find the optimal fusion of PSG signals. Modelling urban networks sustainable progress

In this paper, we analyse the relations between thermodynamics and city networks: an increase in the complexity and the organized information in such urban systems leads to less demand for resources and less social entropy, which overall makes them more efficient and stable.
