Coherent Quantum Tomography

We discuss a quantum mechanical indirect measurement method to recover a position dependent Hamilton matrix from time evolution of coherent quantum mechanical states through an object. A mathematical formulation of this inverse problem leads to weighted X-ray transforms where the weight is a matrix. We show that such X-ray transforms are injective with very rough weights. Consequently, we can solve our quantum mechanical inverse problem in several settings, but many physically relevant problems we pose also remain open. Exponential sums related to Maass forms

We estimate short exponential sums weighted by the Fourier coefficients of a Maass form. This requires working out a certain transformation formula for non-linear exponential sums, which is of independent interest. We also discuss how the results depend on the growth of the Fourier coefficients in question. As a byproduct of these considerations, we can slightly extend the range of validity of a short exponential sum estimate for holomorphic cusp forms. The short estimates allow us to reduce smoothing errors. In particular, we prove an analogue of an approximate functional equation previously proven for holomorphic cusp form coefficients. The necessity of nding similar features of waveforms data recorded for earthquakes at di erent time instants is here considered, since eventual similarity between these functions could suggest similar behavior of the source process of the corresponding earthquakes. In this paper we develop a clustering algorithm for curves based on directions de ned by an application of PCA to functional data.

Isolation and differential expression of two isoforms of the ROBO2/Robo2 axon guidance receptor gene in humans and mice.

AbstractExpression of Robo receptor molecules is important for axon guidance across the midline of the mammalian central nervous system. Here we describe novel isoform a of human ROBO2, which is initially strongly expressed in the fetal human brain but thereafter only weakly expressed in adult brain and a few other tissues. The known isoform b of ROBO2 shows a more or less ubiquitous expression pattern, suggesting diverse functional roles. The genomic structure and distinct expression patterns of Robo2a and Robo2b have been conserved in the mouse, but in contrast to human ROBO2a mouse Robo2a is also abundant in adult brain.
