Debating Europe: Effects of the “Eurovision Debate” on EU Attitudes of Young German Voters and the Moderating Role Played by Political Involvement

In the run-up to the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, EU citizens had the unprecedented opportunity to watch televised debates between the candidates running for president of the European Commission. The most important debate was the so-called "Eurovision debate", which was broadcasted in almost all EU member states. In this study we explore the responses of a sample of 110 young German voters, who watched this debate, to the candidates' messages and whether exposure to the debate caused a shift in the respondents' attitudes towards the EU. The colours of Segesta. Searching for the traces of the lost pigments

Many monuments and objects of the ancient civilizations were painted, but unfortunately the pigments are not still present and sometimes only small traces are evident. The analysis of the traces requires a multianalytical approach through the use of non-invasive techniques and only if necessary of a microsampling. Here, the study of the traces of colours found in some architectural elements and findings belonging to the Archeological Park of Segesta (Trapani, Italy) is reported. In this laboratory activity, the Fiber Optic Reflectance Spectroscopy (FORS) and the Optical Microscopy (MO) techniques will be introduced. After a brief introduction about the theory, instrumentations and applications of both techniques, the students will see the application of the following equipment: -Digivision 1.3 megapixel USB digital optical microscope -Ocean Optics USB2000 + XR1 portable reflection UV-vis spectrophotometer with DH-mini UV-Vis-NIR source and reflection probe. This empirical article presents four narratives from an ongoing qualitative PhD project about spirituality and family therapeutic practice. Using case studies and narrative vignettes, the article presents client perspectives on being able to discuss their spirituality in therapy, and the repercussions when therapists exclude it. The article refers to current research and provides some reflections on how we can understand spirituality in the context of family therapeutic practice; therapists for holistic, cultural, and ethical reasons should acknowledge the client’s spirituality. Comparison of a Novel Homogeneous Cyclic Amp Assay and a Luciferase Assay for Measuring Stimulating Thyrotropin-Receptor Autoantibodies.

Objective: Stimulating thyrotropin-receptor antibodies (TSAb) cause Graves’ disease (GD). We tested a novel homogeneous fluorescent 3′,5′ cyclic adenine monophosphate (cAMP) assay for the detection of TSAb in a bioassay. Methods: Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines expressing either a chimeric (MC4) or wild-type (WT) TSH-R were incubated with the adenyl cyclase activator forskolin, a human TSAb monoclonal antibody (M22), and with sera from GD patients. Intracellular cAMP levels were measured using a Bridge-It® cAMP assay, and the results were compared with a luciferase-based bioassay. In the light of unpublished material this paper reconstructs the history of the deciphering of Gaius’ palimpsest of the Capitular Library of Verona (BCapVr, Cod. XV) by Friedrich Bluhme. It deals for the first time with other copies of Bluhme’s transcriptions preserved at the Bonn University Library (ULB, S 675f; ULB, S 1440) and with their relationship to the ones at the Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage (SBB-PK, Ms. lat. fol. 308, K. 2, Beil. 2, Fasz. 1).
