De la performance musicale dans la Guyane traditionnelle : expression cognitive singulière d?une musique-verbe
2021
Guianese culture and traditional music, here evoked, are various. It is more a transcultural process that, along centuries, gave an original result born in the Americas, in Guiana in this case. It is a form of refoundation, of recreation of cultures and new human beings generally called Creoles. The musical performance, that I study here, is the echo of social and cultural space of this reformulation of thought, life, and conception of the world. It is, as well, a mean of transposition and transformation of the values issued of diverse sources and categories. It is in no way a second-rate cultural practice, as it is the place where were born philosophies and actions for common life as well …
Organisational culture: pursuing a theoretical foundation within the Finnish public oral health-care context.
2004
At the moment, Finnish oral health care is undergoing many changes. Little attention has been paid to issues of organisational culture and communication in Finnish oral health care. Yet the question of culture is of primary importance for changes in an organisation and for planning and reconstructing the rational functioning of an organisation. The purpose of this paper is to examine Finnish public oral health care within a theoretical framework of organisational culture and to identify the various cultural traits that appear to characterise Finnish oral health care. Using a cultural point of view, we develop an orientation for understanding more profoundly and specifically the processes co…
Investigation on the indentation behavior of sandwich beams using crushable and hyperelastic foam cores
2010
In this work the indentation behaviour of sandwich beams is studied adopting the classical approach representing the core material as a Winkler-type foundation. It is shown how most of the proposed theories can be derived from a general fourth order linear differential equation expressing the equilibrium of the indented beam skin. Different assumptions on the supporting boundary constraints and materials constitutive behaviour, lead to simplifications of the general equation and to the prediction of different indentation features. An extension of the Segment-Wise approach recently proposed in the literature is in particular presented with potential to better simulate foam cores with markedl…
Shared Value and Philanthropy: the Potential Role of Corporate Foundations
2016
This paper deals with the topic of research of Corporate Foundations (CFs), aiming at stressing how these organization have been studied so far, and how it could be possible to reconsider their role in the domain of philanthropic initiatives. In particular, this study aims to reconsider the phenomenon of Corporate Foundations under the shared value perspective, highlighting the ability of these organizations to respond to requests of multiple categories of stakeholders. Through the analysis of CFs peculiarities the study will underline the characteristics that are suitable for taking into consideration the potential role of CFs, by means of creating value for both society and firm. Thus, th…
A Quick Approach to the Microfoundations of Social Entrepreneurship
2021
The very first section of the book deals with the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship from a microeconomics perspective. In this line, the individual represents the unit of analysis, that is, the social entrepreneur. Social entrepreneurs are agents who intend to make a positive change in society in such a way that their solution presents a tool to improve the quality of life of the segment of the population they want to target. In these first pages, our intention has been to explain what is inside the mind of the social entrepreneur in the process of developing the idea and putting it into practice. We assumed that entrepreneurs are individuals forming part of a particular society and con…
Generalized curved beam on elastic foundation solved by Transfer Matrix Method
2011
A solution of space curved bars with generalized Winkler soil found by means of Transfer Matrix Method is presented. Distributed, concentrated loads and imposed strains are applied to the beam as well as rigid or elastic boundaries are considered at the ends. The proposed approach gives the analytical and numerical exact solution for circular beams and rings, loaded in the plane or perpendicular to it. A well-approximated solution can be found for general space curved bars with complex geometry. Elastic foundation is characterized by six parameters of stiffness in different directions: three for rectilinear springs and three for rotational springs. The beam has axial, shear, bending and tor…
A multi-purpose, multi-rotor drone system for long-range and high-altitude volcanic gas plume measurements
2021
A multi-rotor drone has been adapted for studies of volcanic gas plumes. This adaptation includes improved capacity for high-altitude and long-range, real-time SO2 concentration monitoring, long-range manual control, remotely activated bag sampling and plume speed measurement capability. The drone is capable of acting as a stable platform for various instrument configurations, including multi-component gas analysis system (MultiGAS) instruments for in situ measurements of SO2, H2S, and CO2 concentrations in the gas plume and portable differential optical absorption spectrometer (MobileDOAS) instruments for spectroscopic measurement of total SO2 emission rate, remotely controlled gas samplin…
Ética del discurso: ¿un marco filosófico para la neuroética?
2013
Neuroethics requires a framework of philosophical ethics from which to interprete, integrate and criticiseneuroscientific progress in moral field. This article sets out to: 1) Show to what extent this framework is necessary; 2) Tackle the question of the method for constructing this framework; 3) Compile the main tópoi of the neurosciences that the framework has to interpret and integrate; 4) Propose the ethics of discourse as a philosophical framework for neuroethics; 5) Display certain shortcomings of this framework and put forward the dialogical ethics of cordial reason as being more appropriate.La Neuroética necesita un marco de ética filosófica desde el que interpretar, integrar y crit…
Stability of Embankments Resting on Foundation Soils with A Weak Layer
2021
The presence of weak layers in geotechnical systems, including soil or rock masses, both natural and man-made, is more frequent than is normally believed. Weak layers can affect both failure mechanisms, in drained and in undrained conditions, as well as in static and seismic conditions, and the safety factor. In the present study, conducted numerically using the finite-element method (FEM) Plaxis 2D code, the influence of a horizontal thin weak layer on stress and strain distribution, on failure mechanisms and on the overall stability of an embankment was evaluated. The results obtained prove that when the weak layer is located at a significant depth from the foundation plane, the failure m…
Los Derechos Humanos en la Filosofía Analítica: Ronald Dworkin
2013
