In order to explain the anthropic differences of the foreign people, many Roman authors often make use of the well known theory of geo-climatic determinism. Within the frame of this theory Rome becomes the center of the world, i. e., the place of normality, culture, and identity. The Roman identity, however, is not exclusive and is deeply rooted in alterity. In fact, the foundation of Rome, seen as "conluvies convenarum", can always be repeated by means of the conquests of the "Other", who can easily become "identical".

En este trabajo analizamos el encuadre informativo del Daño cerebral adquirido (DCA) en noticias publicadas en El País, El Mundo y La Vanguardia entre 2010 y 2013. Partiendo de una búsqueda léxica, se seleccionaron los textos que tematizaban el DCA, bien como tema central o secundario, y se analizaron las distintas categorías de encuadre discursivo. Los resultados muestran la escasa presencia del DCA en la prensa generalista, frente a su incidencia en nuestra sociedad, y que esta presencia escasa se refiere sobre todo a aspectos secundarios (prevención, necesidades asistenciales, calidad de vida), con especial magnificación de los avances tecnológicos. Are maximizers more normative decision-makers? An experimental investigation of maximizers' susceptibility to cognitive biases

Abstract The present study tested the hypothesis that maximizers – people who routinely seek to make optimal decisions rather than quickly settling for an acceptable one – are less susceptible to cognitive biases. Experiment 1 showed that high maximizers are less swayed by irrelevant differences in the framing of a decision-making scenario than are low maximizers. Experiment 2 confirmed that maximizers are also less likely to neglect important base rate information when making decisions. This article analyses a case of action research collaboratively conducted by a university teacher and 50 students in a master's course in teacher training. Its originality resides in the socio-economic, academic, and conceptual nature of the obstacles encountered in the module; in the meta-theoretical orientation of the action research that was chosen to overcome them; and in how triangulation strategies were devised to compensate for the limitations imposed by the academic framing of the course.
