Lay definitions of happiness across nations: The primacy of inner harmony and relational connectedness

In well-being research the term happiness is often used as synonymous with life satisfaction. However, little is known about lay people's understanding of happiness. Building on the available literature, this study explored lay definitions of happiness across nations and cultural dimensions, analyzing their components and relationship with participants' demographic features. Participants were 2799 adults (age range = 30-60, 50% women) living in urban areas of Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Hungary, India, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, and United States. The Difference in Verbal aggressiveness Between the United States and Thailand

This study analyzes the verbal aggressiveness of Americans (n = 592) and Thais (n = 232). Specifically, the analysis of this convenience sample revealed that Thais are more verbally aggressive than Americans. Cultural differences between the 2 nations are discussed as explanations for differences between the 2 nations in verbal aggressiveness.

Abstract Cultural foundations, beliefs and associated ritual practices delimit the relation to and the representation and lived experience of the body in specific ways. Language is the means through which the cultural specificity of both individual and shared mental content can be explored and worked with in therapy. This article presents beliefs about the body in a patient’s religion of origin and takes up the question of the role of the cultural dimension in psychosomatic phenomena. Merino sheep represents a valuable genetic resource worldwide. In this study, we investigated selection signatures in Merino (and Merino-derived) sheep breeds using genome-wide SNP data and two different approaches: a classical F-ST-outlier method and an approach based on the analysis of local ancestry in admixed populations. In order to capture the most reliable signals, we adopted a combined, multi-cohort approach.
