A short proof of the infinitesimal Hilbertianity of the weighted Euclidean space
2020
We provide a quick proof of the following known result: the Sobolev space associated with the Euclidean space, endowed with the Euclidean distance and an arbitrary Radon measure, is Hilbert. Our new approach relies upon the properties of the Alberti-Marchese decomposability bundle. As a consequence of our arguments, we also prove that if the Sobolev norm is closable on compactly-supported smooth functions, then the reference measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure.
Ein Kriterium fr die Approximierbarkeit von Funktionen aus sobolewschen Rumen durch glatte Funktionen
1981
The present paper provides a necessary and sufficient criterion for an element of a Sobolev space W k p (Ω) to be approximated in the Sobolev norm by Ck(En)-smooth functions. Here Ω is a bounded open set of n-dimensional Euclidean space En with convex closure $$\bar \Omega$$ and boundary ∂Ω having n-dimensional Lebesgue measure zero. No further boundary regularity (such as e.g. the segment property) is required. Our main tools are the Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions and a slightly strengthened version of a well-known extension theorem of Whitney. This work was inspired by and is very close in spirit to the pertinent parts of Calderon-Zygmund [6].
Vector-Valued Hardy Spaces
2019
Given a Banach space X, we consider Hardy spaces of X-valued functions on the infinite polytorus, Hardy spaces of X-valued Dirichlet series (defined as the image of the previous ones by the Bohr transform), and Hardy spaces of X-valued holomorphic functions on l_2 ∩ B_{c0}. The chapter is dedicated to study the interplay between these spaces. It is shown that the space of functions on the polytorus always forms a subspace of the one of holomorphic functions, and these two are isometrically isomorphic if and only if X has ARNP. Then the question arises of what do we find in the side of Dirichlet series when we look at the image of the Hardy space of holomorphic functions. This is also answer…
Asymptotic Equivalence of Difference Equations in Banach Space
2014
Conjugacy technique is applied to analysis asymptotic equivalence of nonautonomous linear and semilinear difference equations in Banach space.
Controlled diffeomorphic extension of homeomorphisms
2018
Let $\Omega$ be an internal chord-arc Jordan domain and $\varphi:\mathbb S\rightarrow\partial\Omega$ be a homeomorphism. We show that $\varphi$ has finite dyadic energy if and only if $\varphi$ has a diffeomorphic extension $h: \mathbb D\rightarrow \Omega$ which has finite energy.
The perturbation classes problem for closed operators
2017
We compare the perturbation classes for closed semi-Fredholm and Fredholm operators with dense domain acting between Banach spaces with the corresponding perturbation classes for bounded semi-Fredholm and Fredholm operators. We show that they coincide in some cases, but they are different in general. We describe several relevant examples and point out some open problems.
Mapping properties for the Bargmann transform on modulation spaces
2010
We investigate mapping properties for the Bargmann transform and prove that this transform is isometric and bijective from modulation spaces to convenient Banach spaces of analytic functions.
Beitrag zum Divisionsproblem for Ultradistributionen und ein Fortsetzungssatz
1979
In this note we give a characterization of ultradistributions, which are supported by a single point. As a consequence we get a necessary condition for the solvability of the division problem for ultradistributions similar to the well-known condition in the case of distributions (cf. Malgrange [12]). Finally an extension theorem for ultradistributions is proved, using exponential growth conditions, that generalize the condition of Lojasiewicz [11].
On Drazin invertibility
2008
The left Drazin spectrum and the Drazin spectrum coincide with the upper semi-B-Browder spectrum and the B-Browder spectrum, respectively. We also prove that some spectra coincide whenever T or T* satisfies the single-valued extension property.
Some kind of Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property
2016
In this paper we introduce two Bishop–Phelps–Bollobas type properties for bounded linear operators between two Banach spaces X and Y: property 1 and property 2. These properties are motivated by a Kim–Lee result which states, under our notation, that a Banach space X is uniformly convex if and only if the pair (X,K) satisfies property 2. Positive results of pairs of Banach spaces (X,Y) satisfying property 1 are given and concrete pairs of Banach spaces (X,Y) failing both properties are exhibited. A complete characterization of property 1 for the pairs (lp,lq) is also provided.
