Mycotoxins are fungal secondary metabolites identified in many agricultural products screened for toxigenic moulds. They have been reported to be carcinogenic, teratogenic, tremorogenic, haemorrhagic and dermatitic to a wide range of organisms. With the increasing stringent regulations for mycotoxins imposed by importing countries such as those of the European Union, many cereals that are not safe for human consumption are used in formulations intended for animal feed. Gamma-rays are reported in the scientific literature to destroy ochratoxin A and aflatoxin in food crops and feed. Ochratoxin A is the only mycotoxins with legal limits in the European Union for wine, by contrast, there is no EU legislation imposed for Aflatoxins and Ochratoxin B. A reproducible and sensitive analytical method for six mycotoxins: Ochratoxin A, Ochratoxin B, Aflatoxins B1, Aflatoxin B2, Aflatoxin G1 and Aflatoxin G2 was developed by using immunoaffinity column cleanup and HPLC-FLD method in 30 sweet wines produced in Sicily. We analyzed data from 738 HER2‐positive metastatic breast cancer (mbc) patients treated with pertuzumab‐based regimens and/or T‐DM1 at 45 Italian centers. Outcomes were explored in relation to tumor subtype assessed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The median progression‐free survival at first‐line (mPFS1) was 12 months. Pertuzumab as first‐line conferred longer mPFS1 compared to other first‐line treatments (16 vs. 9 months, p = 0.0001), regardless of IHC subtype. Median PFS in second‐line (mPFS2) was 7 months, with no difference by IHC subtype, but it was more favorable with T‐DM1 compared to other agents (7 vs. 6 months, p = 0.03). Bis-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a:3′,4′-c]quinoxalines of pharmaceutical interest from 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition

Abstract Various derivatives of the heterocyclic system 1,12,12a,12b-tetrahydrobis-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a:3′,4′-c]quinoxaline of pharmaceutical interest have been obtained by double site- and regio-selective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of arylnitrilimines to quinoxalines. No evidence for the formation of mono-adducts was obtained, at variance with literature reports. Specific studies to establish the exact stereochemistry of the bis-cycloadducts were undertaken.

DNA Binding Studies and Cytotoxicity of a Dinuclear PtII Diazapyrenium- Based Metallo-supramolecular Rectangular Box

The interaction with native DNA of a 2,7-diazapyrenium-based ligand 1 and its Pt II rectangular metal- lacycle 2 is explored through circular and linear dichroism and fluorescence spectroscopies. The metal-free ligand 1 binds through intercalation, with a binding constant of approximately 5 � 10 5 m � 1 , whereas the metallacycle 2 binds and bends the DNA with a bind- ing constant of 7 � 10 6 m � 1 . PCR assays show that metallo-supramolecular box 2 interferes with DNA transactions in vitro whereas the intercalator 1 does not.
