Tällaisia asioita lapset kertoivat isästään, mutta mitä nämä tarinat kertovat meille nykypäivän isyydestä? Materialla näyttää olevan monenlaisia tehtäviä lasten arjessa ja lapsen ja isän suhteessa. Pod koniec III wieku rozpoczyna się ruch monastyczny zainicjowany przez św. Antoniego, Powstała w ten sposób nowa forma ascezy charakteryzująca się zerwaniem ze światem, społeczeństwem: anachoreza, czyli pustelnictwo. The purpose of this paper is to present selected aspects of the relationship between the father’s absence and children’s well‑being. The article discusses the consequences of the father’s absence in the family, including the impoverishment of the family, children’s evaluation of their fathers, the health of mothers and newborn infants, lawbreaking by grown‑up children, teenage pregnancy, violence towards children, alcohol abuse, drugs, and school problems. It was found that fathers play an important role in children’s lives and their absence has a negative impact on their well‑being.

Individuals’ perceptions about their abilities, that is, self-concepts of abilities, are crucial determinants of academic achievement and education-related choices. The aims of this research were to examine the role of parents’ and teachers’ beliefs about children’s abilities in students’ self-concept of ability in the domains of literacy and mathematics, and whether the role of parents and teachers is different among boys and girls, and among low- and high-performing students. The paper analyzes selected apophthegms that are part of two collections: alphabetical and systematic. These texts had initially circulated in oral transmission between 330–460 AD and were written down in the mid-fifth century. In this form they are available up until today. The purpose of the analysis at hand is to try to find traces of oral transmission in the apophthegms, which has been attempted by considering the rather rich literature on oral cultures and oral transmission. The studies by E. A. Havelock, J. Goody, and W. B. Ong have proven most useful here. The article shows how the classical political thinking, based on civic virtues, and modernist thinking, based on individualism and self-interest, formed the basis of the U.S. Constitution. The Founding Fathers did not realize the full extent of the rift between classicism and modernity. Background: Transition to parenthood is an important life event and a developmental crisis increasing vulnerability to psychological disorders. Postpartum depression and parenting distress are the most common psychological disturbances involving both mothers and fathers. This paper aims to explore maternal and paternal experience of transition to parenthood and compared them, to investigate the relationship between parenting distress and risk of postpartum depression, in mothers and fathers. Problematyka udziału nastoletnich ojców w opiece nad swoimi dziećmi i w ich wychowaniu stanowi aktualnie przedmiot rosnącego zainteresowania ze strony decydentów i społeczeństw. Celem prezentowanego artykułu jest przedstawienie arbitralnie wybranych wyników badań empirycznych, dzięki którym możliwe będzie poznanie udziału nastoletnich ojców w opiece nad dziećmi i w ich wychowaniu. Na podstawie przywołanych w niniejszym artykule wyników badań można stwierdzić, że większość nastoletnich ojców przejawia zainteresowanie sprawami swoich dzieci, a także deklaruje zaangażowanie w opiekę nad nimi nawet wtedy, kiedy nie mieszkają razem z nimi.
