International audience; In this article, we present a functional electrical stimulator allowing the extraction in real time of M-wave characteristics from resulting EMG recodings in order to quantify muscle fatigue. This system is composed of three parts. A Labview software managing the stimulation output and electromyogram (EMG) input signal, a hardware part amplifying the output and input signal and a link between the two previous parts which is made up from input/output module (NIdaq USB 6251). Influence of correlations between stresses on calculated fatigue life of machine elements

The correlation between components of the random stress tensor and its influence on the calculated fatigue life of machine elements were analysed. Three covariance matrices of components of biaxial stress state were considered. They were determined from measurements of strains in an element of a vibrating screen for aggregate, in the back wall of a bus, and in a welded element of excavator fittings. Calculations were made according to four criteria of multiaxial random fatigue. Cycles were counted with the rainflow method, and damage was cumulated with the Palmgren-Miner hypothesis. The accuracy of the fatigue life calculations in rolling bearing simulations is highly dependent on the precision of the roller-raceway contact simulations and the ability to accurately include structural deflections of the supporting structure. Several different methods exist to simulate the pressure distributions, and in time-domain bearing simulations, where many contacts need evaluation, the simple and time efficient methods are more popular. Nitinol stents continuously experience loadings due to pulsatile pressure, thus a given stent design should possess an adequate fatigue strength and, at the same time, it should guarantee a sufficient vessel scaffolding. Fatigue crack growth behaviour of four structural steels in air and in a geothermal fluid environment

Abstract In recent years the exploitation of geothermal energy has expanded rapidly in Italy. This has created a requirement for improved drilling technology, to reduce the number of failures occuring in the drills, which is more frequent than in oil wells. This paper deals with the results obtained in FCCR tests of four materials both in air and in two types of aggressive environments. Deterioration takes place by fatigue, corrosion fatigue and hydrogen embrittlement. It is concluded that the steel G105 is a suitable substitute for S135 in drill pipes, and inspections between drillings may be adequate to prevent failure for small-curvature wells.

Fatigue test results on the 10HNAP steel under constant amplitude and random loading with non-Gaussian probability distribution function, zero mean value and wide-band frequency spectrum have been used to compare the life time estimation of the models proposed by Bannantine, Fatemi–Socie, Socie, Wang–Brown, Morel and Łagoda–Macha. This work deals with the evaluation of the fatigue crack growth rate of structural components subjected to uniaxial Gaussian stationary wide band random loading. In detail, a new frequency domain method that allows the user to estimate the expected crack growth rate directly from the PSD data is proposed. International audience; In this study, a new system composed of two modules (electromyostimulation + electromyography recording) is presented. It can analyze in real time EMG signals during electromyostimulation. In addition, we propose a new method based on wavelet decomposition to analyze changes in M-wave characteristics. It leads to introduce a new index related to muscular fatigue.
