2013

During excavations conducted in 2011 in Grand (Vosges), a domus dating from the 2nd century and the first half of the 3rd was uncovered. Among the well-preserved vestiges a kitchen was identified with its cooking installations still in situ. These consisted of a hearth, a raised cooking platform and an oven. The kitchen was probably in use for both the residential and the servant’s quarters of the domus. The sediments linked to the use of the kitchen yielded numerous organic remains and pottery sherds dating from the 3rd century. These finds document, at least partially, the kitchenware in use, diet and waste management practices in use in this household. The kitchen stands out as a place t…

DIVERSITY AND THE MAIN ECOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE EPIGEIC SPECIES OF FOREST ECOSYSTEMS IN THE SIBIU COUNTY, IN THE YEARS 2013-2014

2014

Epigeous insects in the “Dumbrava Sibiului” oak forest were captured between 2013-2014. From April to September in each year. 12 traps were installed in a circle 147 individuals collected belonged to 28 species and 6 families: Carabidae – 14 species (50.0%), 187 individuals (77.37 %), Staphylinidae – 7 species (25.0 %), 15 individuals (6.17 %), Silphidae – 3 species (10.72 %), 29 individuals (11.93 %), Elateridae – 1 species (3.51 %), 1 individual (0.41 % ), Scarabaeidae – 2 species (7.14 %), 8 individuals (3.29 %), Forficulidae – 1 species (3.51 %), 2 individuals (0.82 %)). Also, we presented in tables the ecological requirements of the species of Carabidae collected, the variation of thei…

Enteromyxum leei (Myxozoa: Myxosporea) infection in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata): Immune-related studies

2013

Montlivaltia multiformis Toula (Scleractinia) from the Aptian of the Prebetic Domain (SE Spain)

2021

Montlivaltia multiformis Taula (Scleractinia, Faviina, Montlivaltidae), formerly reported from the Carpatho Balkanic domain is described from Lower Aptian beds of the Prebetic Domain (SE Spain). Taxonomic attributes include the organisation of radial elements, septal trabeculae, carinae and endothecal elements while the external morphology of the coralla is fairly variable. The sedimentological context suggests a circalittoral environment also supported by palaecological features of the surrounding fauna. Owing to its stratigraphic position in the Carpatho-Balkanic region and in Spain, Montlivaltia multiformis appears as a potential marker for both shallow carbonate or outer shelf settings …

The mammalian geochronology and biogeography of Paşalar (Middle Miocene, Turkey)

1990

Abstract The Pasalar fauna includes 56 mammalian species of European. Asian, African and North American origin. Evidence provided on the stage-of-evolution of the primates Sivapithecus darwini and cf. Kenyapithecus, the rodent Turkomys pasalarensis, insectivores, carnivores, rhinos, suids and ruminants suggests that Pasalar is correlative with the Late Langhian marine stage and European Mammal Neogene Zone 6., circa 15 Ma (million years ago). A review of the Pasalar fauna's biogeographic history suggests that it was aggregated by a succession of pulsed intercontinental geographic extensions tied to global sea-level lowering events during the earlier half of the Miocene.

Intestinal helminth fauna of striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) in the western Mediterranean: No effects of host body length, age and sex

2014

The intestine of 52 (28 males and 24 females) striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) from western Mediterranean waters was examined for helminths. Animals were found stranded along the Spanish coasts during the morbillivirus epizootic in 1990. In accordance with observations from other pelagic tetrapods, including cetaceans from other geographical regions, the intestinal helminth community was depauperate. Four helminth species were found: three tetrabothriid cestodes, Tetrabothrius forsteri (prevalence: 96.2%; mean intensity [95% CI]: 47.4 [34.4–68.2]), Trigonocotyle globicephalae (9.6%; 1.8 [1.0–2.2]), and Strobilocephalus triangularis (23.1%; 5.3 [2.9–10.2]), and immature individuals o…
