The influence of intergranular interaction on the magnetization of the ensemble of oriented Stoner-Wohlfarth nanoparticles
2008
We consider the influence of interparticle interaction on the magnetization reversal in the oriented Stoner-Wohlfarth nanoparticles ensemble. To do so, we solve a kinetic equation for the relaxation of the overall ensemble magnetization to its equilibrium value in some effective mean field. Latter field consists of external magnetic field and interaction mean field proportional to the instantaneous value of above magnetization. We show that the interparticle interaction influences the temperature dependence of a coercive field. This influence manifests itself in the noticeable coercivity at $T>T_{b}$ ($T_{b}$ is so-called blocking temperature). The above interaction can also lead to a forma…
Oxygen on Fe(110): magnetic properties of the adsorbate system
1999
Abstract Investigations concerning the electronic and magnetic properties of oxygen adsorbed on magnetized iron films were carried out by means of angle and spin resolving photoelectron spectroscopy. Iron(1 1 0), epitaxially grown on a W(1 1 0) crystal, served as the ferromagnetic substrate. Exchange splittings of the O 2p x derived level were detected demonstrating a magnetic coupling between the chemisorbate and the iron layer. This observation indicates the presence of an induced magnetic moment within the adsorbate overlayer. Variations of the exchange splitting occurred as a function of the oxygen coverage, energy of the exciting radiation, and detection angle of the emitted photoelect…
Magnetism of Co-doped ZnO thin films
2007
We have investigated magnetic and transport properties of 5% Co-doped and undoped ZnO thin films deposited on $r$ plane ${\mathrm{Al}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The Co doped films showed paramagnetic and ferromagnetic behavior as well as a high magnetoresistance and a small anomalous Hall effect. In a range of $0\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{to}\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}5\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{T}$ at low temperatures we observed a double sign change of the magnetoresistance. For undoped ZnO films, prepared by the same conditions, only a negative MR was observed, but surprisingly also a very small anomalous Hall effect. We explain our results…
Properties of the quaternary half-metal-type Heusler alloyCo2Mn1−xFexSi
2006
This paper reports on the bulk properties of the quaternary Heusler alloy Co2Mn1xFexSi with the Fe concentration x =0,1/2,1. All samples, which were prepared by arc melting, exhibit L21 long-range order over the complete range of Fe concentration. The structural and magnetic properties of the Co2Mn1xFexSi Heusler alloys were investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, high- and low-temperature magnetometry, Mossbauer spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The electronic structure was explored by means of highenergy photoemission spectroscopy at about 8 keV photon energy. This ensures true bulk sensitivity of the measurements. The magnetization of the Fe-doped Heusler alloys …
Spin Hall magnetoresistance in the non-collinear ferrimagnet GdIG close to the compensation temperature
2017
We investigate the spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR) in a gadolinium iron garnet (GdIG)/platinum (Pt) heterostructure by angular dependent magnetoresistance measurements. The magnetic structure of the ferromagnetic insulator GdIG is non-collinear near the compensation temperature, while it is collinear far from the compensation temperature. In the collinear regime, the SMR signal in GdIG is consistent with the usual [Formula: see text] relation well established in the collinear magnet yttrium iron garnet, with [Formula: see text] the angle between magnetization and spin Hall spin polarization direction. In the non-collinear regime, both an SMR signal with inverted sign and a more complex an…
The phase diagram and the magnetic structure of nuclear spins in elemental copper below 60 nK
1992
Abstract The phase diagram for nuclear magnetic order is elemental copper and the corresponding ordering vectors were investigated by neutron diffraction at nanokelvin temperatures. The intermediate phase is characterized by an ordering vector (O 2 3 2/3 . This is the first time that this type of order is observed in an fcc antiferromagnet.
Ultrafine MnWO4 nanoparticles and their magnetic properties
2015
Abstract Ultrafine nanoparticles of MnWO4, a compound showing low-temperature multiferroicity in the bulk, were synthesized by the polyol method. Studies using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, differential sedimentation and sorption techniques show the formation of a single-phase material, which is composed of MnWO4 nanoparticles with a prolate ellipsoidal shape (short axis of 4–5 nm, long axis of 11–12 nm) and an unprecedented high specific surface area of 166 m2 g−1. The as-prepared MnWO4 nanoparticles are readily crystalline after the liquid-phase synthesis. Temperature and field dependent magnetization measurements indica…
Cyanide-bridged iron(III)-cobalt(II) double zigzag ferromagnetic chains: two new molecular magnetic nanowires.
2003
and opened the perspective of a potential useof 1D magnetic molecular nanowires for information storage.Even though 1D magnetism is a very active area of research, such dynamic behavior was never detected before since it isnot clear how to fulfill experimentally the requirements of aperfect 1D Ising-type chain. This finding prompted us to lookcarefully at 1D systems containing anisotropic elements, suchas cobalt(ii) and low-spin iron(iii) centers that we synthesizedrecently,
Defect induced room temperature ferromagnetism in high quality Co-doped ZnO bulk samples
2021
The nature of the often reported room temperature ferromagnetism in transition metal doped oxides is still a matter of huge debate. Herein we report on room temperature ferromagnetism in high quality Co-doped ZnO (Zn1-xCoxO) bulk samples synthesized via standard solid-state reaction route. Reference paramagnetic Co-doped ZnO samples with low level of structural defects are subjected to heat treatments in a reductive atmosphere in order to introduce defects in the samples in a controlled way. A detailed structural analysis is carried out in order to characterize the induced defects and their concentration. The magnetometry revealed the coexistence of a paramagnetic and a ferromagnetic phase …
Structural and Magnetic Properties of Nickel Oxide Nanopowders
2010
Structure and magnetic properties of nickel oxide (NiO) nanopowders have been studied by X-ray/neutron diffraction, SQUID magnetometer, and micro-Raman spectroscopy. Our diffraction data indicate that at room temperature all NiO powders are antiferromagnetically ordered and have a rhombohedral (R-3m) phase. The SQUID magnetometry and Raman spectroscopy measurements support the presence of the antiferromagnetic ordering.
