HPLC-DAD profile of phenolic compounds and In vitro antioxidant activity of Ficus carica L. fruits from two Algerian varieties
2022
Ficus carica L., commonly known as the fig tree, is a plant belonging to the Moraceae family whose fruits are traditionally used for edible and therapeutic purposes. The study aimed to investigate the lyophilized aqueous extracts of two native Algerian fig varieties, azendjar (Az) and taamriouth (Ta), as a potential source of antioxidant compounds for possible use as ingredients in pharmaceuticals or nutraceuticals. The HPLC-DAD analysis revealed the presence of two phenolic acids (3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid and vanillic acid) and two flavonoids (rutin and quercetin) at levels 3.67, 4.80, 84.16, and 6.87 µg/g respectively for Az variety extract, and 6.90, traces, 7.46 and 3.37 µg/g respectiv…
An In Vitro Phantom Study on the Role of the Bird-Beak Configuration in Endograft Infolding in the Aortic Arch.
2015
Purpose: To assess endograft infolding for excessive bird-beak configurations in the aortic arch in relation to hemodynamic variables by quantifying device displacement and rotation of oversized stent-grafts deployed in a phantom model. Methods: A patient-specific, compliant, phantom pulsatile flow model was reconstructed from a patient who presented with collapse of a Gore TAG thoracic endoprosthesis. Device infolding was measured under different flow and pressure conditions for 3 protrusion extensions (13, 19, and 24 mm) of the bird-beak configuration resulting from 2 TAG endografts with oversizing of 11% and 45%, respectively. Results: The bird-beak configuration with the greatest protr…
Qualitative Analysis of Aphid and Primary Parasitoid Trophic Relations of Genus <I>Alloxysta</I> (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea: Figitidae: Cha…
2014
Charipinae hyperparasitoids affect effectiveness of the primary parasitoids of aphids by decreasing their abundance and modifying their behavior. As a result, increase of aphid populations can cause severe yield losses in some crops. Therefore, ecological studies on the subfamily Charipinae have a great economical and biological importance. Host specificity of these hyperparasitoids is still under debate and for many Charipinae species very little is known about their trophic relations. Here, we give a comprehensive overview of the trophic relationships between the Charipinae species of the genus Alloxysta Forster and their aphid and primary parasitoids hosts, worldwide. Within this subfami…
Figures of equilibrium in close binary systems
1992
The equilibrium configurations of close binary systems are analyzed. The autogravitational, centrifugal and tidal potentials are expanded in Clairaut's coordinates. From the set of the total potential angular terms an integral equations system is derived. The reduction of them to ordinary differential equations and the determination of the boundary conditions allow a formulation of the problem in terms of a single variable.

Estela antropomorfa con inscripción ibérica del Mas de Barberán (Nogueruelas, Teruel)
1998
The subject of this paper is a little known Iberian gravestele from Nogueruelas (Teruel). The find-spot, the Mas de Barberán, is close to the boundary with Cortes de Arenoso (Castellón). The piece is one of a class of stele charactised by figurative decoration and an inscription. The discussion focusses on the anthropomorphic shape of the piece, its iconography —the disk-cuirass—, and the inscription.
Small anthropomorphic figurines in clay at Gipka neolithic settlements:
2005
Miniature Neolithic figurines in clay are a special topic of research. This especially concerns areas where their representation has so far been poor. While carrying out archaeological excavations in Northern Kurzeme, the north west coastal dune yone of Riga Bay, a ritual-like complex was recovered at Gipka A site belonging to the local Culture of Pit Ceramics. It consists of several large and smaller fireplaces and pits, with the finds of fragmentary clay figurines recovered under the palisade that surrounded the settlement. The head and body of the miniature anthropomorphic figurines in clay have original modelling. It is possible to single out two types of figurine: with rather broad che…
The production of terracotta figurines in the city of Augustodunum. Presentation of the latest research.
2018
A theory ofnonverticaltriplet energy transfer in terms of accurate potential energy surfaces: The transfer reaction from π,π* triplet donors to 1,3,5…
2004
Triplet energy transfer (TET) from aromatic donors to 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene (COT) is an extreme case of "nonvertical" behavior, where the transfer rate for low-energy donors is considerably faster than that predicted for a thermally activated (Arrhenius) process. To explain the anomalous TET of COT and other molecules, a new theoretical model based on transition state theory for nonadiabatic processes is proposed here, which makes use of the adiabatic potential energy surfaces (PES) of reactants and products, as computed from high-level quantum mechanical methods, and a nonadiabatic transfer rate constant. It is shown that the rate of transfer depends on a geometrical distortion paramet…
