Abstract Molecular monitoring of bacterial communities can explain and predict the stability of bioprocesses in varying physicochemical conditions. To study methanol-fed denitrification biofilters of municipal wastewater treatment plants, bacterial communities of two full-scale biofilters were compared through fingerprinting and sequencing of the 16S rRNA genes. Additionally, 16S rRNA gene fingerprinting was used for 10-week temporal monitoring of the bacterial community in one of the biofilters. Microbial communities in full-scale woodchip bioreactors treating aquaculture effluents.

Woodchip bioreactors are being successfully applied to remove nitrate from commercial land-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) effluents. In order to understand and optimize the overall function of these bioreactors, knowledge on the microbial communities, especially on the microbes with potential for production or mitigation of harmful substances (e.g. hydrogen sulfide; H2S) is needed. This paper proposes the employment of the differential evolution (DE) to offline optimize the covariance matrices of a new reduced delayed-state Kalman-filter (DSKF)-based algorithm which estimates the stator-flux linkage components, in the stationary reference frame, to realize sensorless control of induction motors (IMs). Šī pētījuma galvenais mērķis bija novērtēt kā digitālo ierīču lietošanas izmaiņas ikdienā pirms Covid-19 pandēmijas un pandēmijas laikā Itālijā ietekmē acu nogurumu. Digitālo ierīču ietekme uz acīm tika novērtēta, apkopojot pētījuma dalībnieku atbildes uz anketas jautājumiem. Digitālo ierīču izmantošana mūsdienās ir plaši izplatīta, tās ir jāizmanto, bet ievērojot nepieciešamos piesardzības pasākumus, lai neradītu traucējumus redzes un psihiskajā sistēmās.

Design and Assessment of Optimized EMI Filters for Avionic Applications

This paper presents a procedure to design EMI filters to reduce the electromagnetic disturbances generated by electrical apparatus used in avionic environment. The method proposed can be useful to save weight and size of the attenuation systems, and keep their effectiveness in agreement with the standard requirements. A design of a set of different filters with different topological characteristics is presented for a case study about an electrical actuator used for an aircraft onboard application. Performances and reliabilities of the attenuation systems are assessed by suitable full compliance experimental tests.

Ahromatopsijas izpausmju korekcija ar krāsainām kontaktlēcām

MĒRĶIS: Novērtēt filtru kontaktlēcu (KL) pielietojumu ahromatopsijas simptomu korekcijai. METODE: Pētījumā piedalījās 8 dalībnieki (6 sievietes un 2 vīrieši) vecumā no 8 mēnešiem līdz 25 gadiem, periodā no 2012. līdz 2016.gadam. Pēc oftalmoloģiskās pārbaudes un ahromatopsijas noteikšanas, tika veikta speciālās krāsainās KL pielaikošanas procedūra. Pacientu atbildes tika noteiktas ar anketas palīdzību un noteikts apžilbšanas laiks ar un bez piedāvātām KL. SECINĀJUMI: filtru KL samazināja fotofobiju; apžilbšanas laiks kļuvis salīdzināms ar normālā redzes gadījumu; dalībnieki atzinīgi novērtē psiholoģiskos un sociālos ieguvumus ar izrakstītām filtru KL.

Influence of bed roughness on flow and turbulence structure around a partially-buried, isolated freshwater mussel

The present study uses eddy-resolving numerical simulations to investigate how bed roughness affects flow and turbulence structure around an isolated, partially-buried mussel (Unio elongatulus) aligned with the incoming flow. The rough-bed simulations resolve the flow past the exposed part of a gravel bed, whose surface is obtained from a laboratory experiment that also provides some additional data for validation of the numerical model. Results are also discussed for the limiting case of a horizontal smooth bed. Sintonikas ietekme uz miopiju

MĒRĶIS: noteikt sintonikas fototerapijas efektivitāti jauniešiem ar vidējās pakāpes miopiju līdz 3,0D vai nekoriģēto sākotnējo miopiju. METODE: 10 miopi vecumā no 8 līdz 17 gadi. Tika izmantotāss redzes asuma, miopijas pakāpes, akomodācijas amplitūdas, acs zīlītes αω reakcijas un redzes lauka noteikšanas testi. Pēc sākotnējās pārbaudēs dalībnieki tika pakļauti 15 sintonikas seansiem. REZULTĀTI: pēc sintonikas pielietošanas statistiski nozīmīgi uzlabojas akomodācijas amplitūda, redzes asums, acs zīlītes reakcijas - αω un redzes lauks.
