Predictive distributions that mimic frequencies over a restricted subdomain

2020

A predictive distribution over a sequence of $$N+1$$ events is said to be “frequency mimicking” whenever the probability for the final event conditioned on the outcome of the first N events equals the relative frequency of successes among them. Exchangeable distributions that exhibit this feature universally are known to have several annoying concomitant properties. We motivate frequency mimicking assertions over a limited subdomain in practical problems of finite inference, and we identify their computable coherent implications. We provide some examples using reference distributions, and we introduce computational software to generate any complete specification desired. Theorems on reducti…

Efficacité interne de l'enseignement primaire aux pays de la Communauté Economique des Pays des Grands Lacs (CEPGL) : question approfondie sur le Rwa…

2011

This PhD study has been achieved with objective to carry out the level of internal efficiency of the primary education in the CEPGL countries and the progress reaches toward the education for all after the period of ethnic and armed conflicts. In addition, specifically for Rwanda, to underline the individual, families and school factors explanatory of the repetition and drop-out in the primary schools. The data of our analysis come from different reports of ministries, international organizations and publications of researchers. The analysis of the primary education inside CEPGL countries, by the indicators that document education supply and demand, show that, after the period of conflicts,…

Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function associated to some families of Morse real polynomials

2014

It is known that the Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function is generically an Abelian integral. We give a sufficient condition on monodromy to ensure that it is an Abelian integral also in non generic cases. In non generic cases it is an iterated integral. Uribe [17, 18] gives in a special case a precise description of the Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function, an iterated integral of length at most 2, involving logarithmic functions with only one ramification at a point at infinity. We extend this result to some non isodromic families of real Morse polynomials.

Automorphisms of hyperelliptic GAG-codes

2009

Abstract We determine the n –automorphism group of generalized algebraic-geometry codes associated with rational, elliptic and hyperelliptic function fields. Such group is, up to isomorphism, a subgroup of the automorphism group of the underlying function field.

Chemical characterization of okra stalk (Abelmoschus esculentus) as potential raw material for biorefinery utilization

2018

In the present work, okra stalk (Abelmoschus esculentus) was chemically characterized to evaluate its appropriate exploitation as a biorefinery feedstock. The chemical composition of this renewable lignocellulosic material yielding maximum up to 120 tons per hectare was primarily determined by methods of wood chemical analysis. In terms of its main organic constituents, its dry matter contained 65.0% carbohydrates (cellulose, hemicelluloses and other polysaccharides), 20.5% lignin and 5.0% extractives. In addition, thermogravimetric analyses revealed that the content of proteins and inorganics was 6.6 and 3.3% of the dry matter, respectively. Among the inorganic elements determined by induc…

Ricerche in tema di società questuarie

2019

About the regulations of the societas quaestus - referable to the societas universorum quae ex quaestu veniunt and to the societas unius alicuius negotiationis and unius rei - the interpretative efforts of the Roman jurists were given profusely since the end of the republican age. The scientific monograph puts itself on the traces of identifying the notion of quaestus (gain) with particular reference to the inclusion within it of the so-called remuneration gifts. Furthermore it reconstructs the jurisprudential debate that aroses around the question of whether the socii - in the determination of the shares - had to respect a proportion with the contributions and in this sense with an attempt to explain the existing contrast between a passage from the Digest and one of the Iustiniani Institutiones. Moreover always with specific reference to the societas quaestus the monograph investigates the setting-up of the intempestiva renuntiatio supporting its origin out of the contrast between Proculiani and Sabiniani so far postulated in doctrine. Finally the book closes with a chapter dedicated to the genesis of the term egestas which appears in a fragment of Modestinus (D. 17.2.4.1) dedicated to the causes of dissolution of the societas consensu contractaSettore IUS/18 - Diritto Romano E Diritti Dell'Antichita'

Rotational spectra and hyperfine structure of isotopic species of deuterated cyanoacetylene, DC3N

2008

Abstract Cyanoacetylene enriched in deuterium was used to record pure rotational transitions of DC 3 N and its rare 13 C and 15 N isotopic species by employing Fourier transform microwave (FTMW) spectroscopy on a supersonic-jet expansion at centimeter wavelengths (8.2–25.4 GHz) and by using long-path absorption spectroscopy at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths (82–900 GHz). In addition, submillimeter wave measurements (304–897 GHz) have been performed for DC 3 N in its v 7 = 1 lowest excited vibrational state. Hyperfine structure caused by the 14 N and D nuclei has been resolved in the FTMW spectra. Quantum-chemical calculations have been performed on the hyperfine structure paramete…

Theoretical Study of the Electronic Excited States of Tetracyanoethylene and Its Radical Anion

2005

The low-lying electronic states of tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and its radical anion were studied using multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) and extended atomic natural orbital (ANO) basis sets. The results obtained yield a full interpretation of the electronic absorption spectra, explain the spectral changes undergone upon reduction, give support to the occurrence of a bound excited state for the anionic species, and provide valuable information for the rationalization of the experimental data obtained with electron transmission spectroscopy.

Microscopic origin of the charge transfer in single crystals based on thiophene derivatives: A combined NEXAFS and density functional theory approach

2016

We have investigated the charge transfer mechanism in single crystals of DTBDT-TCNQ and DTBDT-F4TCNQ (where DTBDT is dithieno[2,3-d;2',3'-d'] benzo[1,2-b;4,5-b']dithiophene) using a combination of near-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (NEXAFS) and density functional theory calculations (DFT) including final state effects beyond the sudden state approximation. In particular, we find that a description that considers the partial screening of the electron-hole Coulomb correlation on a static level as well as the rearrangement of electronic density shows excellent agreement with experiment and allows to uncover the details of the charge transfer mechanism in DTBDT-TCNQ and DTBDT-F4 TCNQ, as w…

Interpretation of the Ni K-edge EXAFS in nanocrystalline nickel oxide using molecular dynamics simulations

2011

Abstract Analysis of atomic structure at the nanoscale is a challenging task, complicated by relaxation phenomena and thermal disorder. In this work, the x-ray absorption spectroscopy at the Ni K-edge was used to address this problem in nanocrystalline NiO (nano-NiO) at 300 K. The analysis of the first two coordination shells using conventional two-shell single-scattering approximation allowed us to determine the expansion of the average lattice but contraction of the Ni―O bonds in the first coordination shell in nano-NiO in comparison with the bulk nickel oxide. The EXAFS signal generated within the first six coordination shells (up to ~ 6.5 A) was successfully interpreted using classical …
