Identifying Critical Determinants of ‘Digital Customer Services’ Usage – An Exploratory Study

2019

Digital technology has reinvented retail business as well as commerce. This study aims to examine consumers’ perception and usage of digital customer services (DCS) and investigate three significant post-adoption and marketing consequences: simplicity, awareness, and usefulness. Using a purposeful sampling technique, 10 semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted with banking customers in Finland in January 2019. The research findings suggest that simplicity regarding DCS occupies a key position in their prolonged use, while awareness and usability are also important. This study offers some valuable theoretical and managerial implications and suggests an agenda for future research. …

Testing explosive bubbles with time-varying volatility: the case of Spanish public debt

2023

In this paper the dynamics of the Spanish public debt-GDP ratio is analysed during the period 1850–2021. We use recent procedures to test for explosive bubbles in the presence under time- varying volatility (Harvey et al., 2016; Harvey et al., 2019, 2020; Kurozumi et al., 2022) in order to test the explosive behavior of Spanish public debt over this long period. We extend previous analysis of Esteve and Prats (2022) where assume constant unconditional volatility in the underlying error process.

Firms’ distance to the European productivity frontier

2022

AbstractIn this article we explore the factors contributing to reduce the distance of laggard firms to the European frontier, focusing on institutional factors. To characterize Total Factor Productivity frontier firms within industries for the European Union we use firm level data from AMADEUS for the period 2003–2014. Our findings provide evidence on the importance of governance quality and easiness in getting credit in explaining the distance of laggard firms to the European productivity frontier. We also find that other factors at the country level -tertiary education, R&D stock, and trade openness- and at the firm level -size, age, and capital-intensity- influence the distance of la…

The Need to Approach the Management of the Tourist Destination by the Central and Local Public Authorities in Romania

2017

Abstract In the medium and long term, priorities in the development of tourism aim to develop a complex tourist offer, making the most of the natural and anthropogenic resources existing in connection with the preservation of the environment and the heritage. On the long run, it will contribute to raising the living standards of the population, especially social categories with lower chances of reintegration into the labour market (people made redundant in industry, elderly people etc.). Implementation of the strategy at regional level must be achieved through an active partnership between Romanian public authorities, economic agents and private investors, with the involvement of the federa…

Age of precarity : segmentation patterns in Rhone-Alps economic branches

2010

29 p.; Our paper analyse the evolution of the main labour variables in French region of Rhône-Alps for different age groups. We carry out an empirical analysis of the evolution of the labour segmentation patterns between 1995 and 2007, based on administrative records. Our aim is to compare evolution of regional employment model by age groups, sex and economic branches. We analyse inequalities in wages and contract-stability, in a global point of view and focusing in the emergent tertiary sectors of tourism, transport and personal services. We conclude that general destabilisation and new global and sectoral segmentation patterns have to be considered by age groups as a relevant aspect to un…

Full employment and neoclassical theories

1997

Labor market performance of dropouts: the role of personality

2014

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide evidence on labor market careers of dropouts with various levels of education. Design/methodology/approach – The paper compares the labor market careers of dropouts and non-dropouts between ages 15 and 50 by using longitudinal data.
