Neutrinoless double beta decay in supersymmetry with bilinear R-parity breaking

1998

We reanalyze the contributions to neutrinoless double beta ($\znbb$) decay from supersymmetry with explicit breaking of R-parity. Although we keep both bilinear and trilinear terms, our emphasis is put on bilinear R-parity breaking terms, because these mimic more closely the models where the breaking of R-parity is spontaneous. Comparing the relevant Feynman diagrams we conclude that the usual mass mechanism of double beta decay is the dominant one. From the non-observation of $\znbb$ decay we set limits on the bilinear R-parity breaking parameters of typically a (few) 100 $keV$. Despite such stringent bounds, we stress that the magnitude of R-parity violating phenomena that can be expected…

R-parity-conserving supersymmetry, neutrino mass, and neutrinoless double beta decay

1997

We consider contributions of R-parity conserving softly broken supersymmetry (SUSY) to neutrinoless double beta ($\znbb$) decay via the (B-L)-violating sneutrino mass term. The latter is a generic ingredient of any weak-scale SUSY model with a Majorana neutrino mass. The new R-parity conserving SUSY contributions to $\znbb$ are realized at the level of box diagrams. We derive the effective Lagrangian describing the SUSY-box mechanism of $\znbb$-decay and the corresponding nuclear matrix elements. The 1-loop sneutrino contribution to the Majorana neutrino mass is also derived. Given the data on the $\znbb$-decay half-life of $^{76}$Ge and the neutrino mass we obtain constraints on the (B-L)-…

BODY GROWTH AND POLYCYTHAEMIA IN HYPOXIC ALBINO RATS OF FIRST AND SECOND GENERATION

1990

SUMMARY 1. In our study we followed the growth rate and the haematologic changes occurring in albino rats of Wistar strain when living in a hypoxic environment. Two generations of hypoxic rats were observed for changes in their erythrocytes (RBC), haematocrit (Hct) and haemoglobin (Hb): the first generation (H1) and the second generation (H2). A few hours after birth, the H1 rats were placed and raised in a normobaric hypoxic environment (10% O2 in N2). The H2 rats were born and raised in the environment previously described. The control group had a normoxic environment. The H1 and H2 rats had inferior growth rates in respect to their controls, but H2 were found to have a larger growth rate…

Synthesis of fluorinated first generation starburst molecules containing a triethanolamine core and 1,2,4-oxadiazoles

2006

Abstract 5-Pentafluorophenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles, differently substituted at C(3), have been synthesized and used to functionalize the aliphatic primary hydroxyl functionalities of triethanolamine, under mild conditions. UV–visible absorption and emission spectra are reported, for both tri- and difunctionalised molecules, showing their potential applications as light-emitters in optoelectronic devices.

The da Vinci Xi Robotic Four-Arm Approach for Robotic-Assisted Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy

2018

AbstractRobotic surgery is gaining importance in complex thoracoscopic surgery, such as robotic-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE). The RAMIE procedure was designed using the first generation of the robotic system. The latest da Vinci Xi system has substantially increased the dexterity, especially designed for multiquadrant surgery. The original three-arm RAMIE approach was modified including the robotic four-arm use for the thoracoscopic and laparoscopic part of the operation. This extended approach (four-arm RAMIE approach) provides more flexibility and raises the independence of the surgeon.

Electromagnetically generated extracorporeal shock waves for gallstone lithotripsy: in vitro experiments and clinical relevance.

1989

. First generation shock wave sources have been proved to disintegrate gallstones effectively, but they require the immersion of the patient's body in a tank of water. A recently developed second generation shock wave source (Siemens-Lithostar, Erlangen, FRG) generates shock waves electromagnetically. It presents several novel features. In particular the waterbath can be omitted and due to lower shock wave pressure general anaesthesia is not required. In vitro studies showed that 36 out of 38 gallstones (11–30 mm in diameter) could be disintegrated. Two concrements resisting lithotripsy were pure white cholesterol stones. Independent of shape, size, and composition (cholesterol or pigment) …

Public versus private broadcasters’ management

2014

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to prove the existence of significant differences between private and public corporate credibility antecedents and effects. Design/methodology/approach – Totally, 816 Spanish viewers’ valuations were obtained (408 for the public television network and 408 for four private first generation broadcasters). Results show that some corporate reputation antecedents (perceived quality) and effects (attitudes) are stronger when private broadcasters are considered. Findings – Result show that proposed credibility reputation antecedents and effects are significant and that some differences between private and public entities really do exist. Research limitations…

Updated secondary implant stability data of two dental implant systems. A retrospective cohort study

2017

Background At present, updated secondary implant stability data generated by actual versions of resonance frequency analysis (RFA) and mobility measurement (MM) electronic devices of 2 different implant systems with actual manufactured surfaces seem to lack and/or are incomplete. Material and Methods Secondary implant stability data based on both RFA and MM measurements were collected and analyzed from 44 formerly treated patients (24 f, 20 m) that received either Ankylos Cellplus (Ø3.5mm) (A) (n=36) or Straumann regular neck SLA tissue level (Ø4.1mm) (S) (n=37) implants in posterior positions of both jawbones (total number= 72). These results were interpretated in view of formerly publishe…

Covalently linked multi-calixarenes

1998

Abstract ipso-Nitration of t-butyl calix[4]arene tetraethers and subsequent hydrogenation provides an easy access to monoamino calix[4]arenes. Reaction with di- and triacid chlorides leads to various double- and triple-calix[4]arenes. With tetraacid chlorides derived from calix[4]arenes in the cone- or 1,3-alternate-conformations penta-calix[4]arenes are available as molecularly uniform species, which may be regarded as the first generation of calix[4]arene based dendrimers. The structure of the mononitro tetraester derivative, which may serve as a general building block has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis.
