Miniature magnetic devices for laser-based, table-top free-electron lasers

Truly table-top sized radiation sources based on compact laser-plasma accelerators require compact and strong focusing devices and efficient short-period undulators. Complementing our recent theoretical work on the feasibility of a table-top FEL, we here present the design and successful experimental characterizations of a 5 mm period length undulator and miniature quadrupole magnets with field gradients of the order of $500\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{T}/\mathrm{m}$.
Modeling of Magnetoresistive-Based Electrical Current Sensors: A Technological Approach

The utilization of modeling tools can, in many cases, help us in the design and final prototyping of any sort of sensors. In this paper, we describe a finite-element method (FEM) model applied to a hybrid technology involving a full Wheatstone bridge spin-valve-based electrical current sensor. After validating the model against experimental results, we focus our studies on geometrical aspects of the sensor configuration, in order to detect possible deviations that may have occurred during the fabrication process. Teachers as mental health promoters: a study of teachers' understanding of the concept of mental health

Based on results from a mixed method approach, using focus group interviews (N = 15) and survey research (N = 1575, this paper explores Norwegian K12 teachers' understanding of the concept of mental health. The theoretical framework of analysis is a socio-ecological and systemic perspective, seeing conceptual understanding as a result of a complex interplay between factors on individual, organizational and state/society levels. Existing research indicates that mental health is an unfamiliar term in a school context, and often negatively loaded. The field of music and emotion research has grown rapidly and diversified during the last decade. This has led to a certain degree of confusion and inconsistency between competing notions of emotions, data, and results. The present review of 251 studies describes the focus of prevalent research approaches, methods, and models of emotion, and documents the types of musical stimuli used over the past twenty years. Punto di partenza del suo ragionamento è il presupposto che lo spazio misurabile è anche spazio mentale. Ciò attiva una serie di considerazioni legate al rapporto tra il tempo della storia e il tempo del fruitore. Un edificio, pertanto, e nello specifico una biblioteca sia pubblica o privata sia nazionale o di quartiere, si percepisce ed esiste anche nel tempo soggettivo di chi la fruisce.

Using two different typing techniques (i.e. polyacrylamide gel isoelectric focusing (PAGIF) with Western blot and SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of precipitated C8 under nonreducing conditions with Western blot), the following observations were made during the reference typing for C81 (C8A). The Japanese variant A1J is probably identical with A1Cauc, whereas B1J is definitely different from B1Cauc and could therefore provisionally be named HB3'. Variant 'A2' from Japan is focused in an intermediate position, but different from M1 and could be named 'M2'. Both variants possess normal A subunits. This article articulates some aspects of an emerging perspective shift on language: the distributed view. According to this view, languaging behavior and its organization is irreducible to the formal abstracta that have characterized the focus on a de Saussure-type system of formal regularities in mainstream linguistics over the past century. Language, in the distributed view, is a radically heterogeneous phenomenon that is spread across diverse spatiotemporal scales ranging from the neural to the cultural. Genetic polymorphism of human complement factor I (C3b inactivator) in the Chinese Han population.

The human complement factor I (IF) polymorphism has been analysed by polyacrylamide gel isoelectric focusing electrophoresis of neuraminidase-treated EDTA plasma samples followed by immunoblotting and enzymatic detection. In a population study among 121 random individuals from Chengdu, PR China, three different common phenotypes were observed. The results show that IF is polymorphic in the Chinese population. The allele frequencies were as follows: FI*A = 0.153, FI*B = 0.847. The distribution of observed phenotypes was in accordance with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.
