Energy and environmental assessment of the institutional catering in Lombardy (Italy)

2018

Climate change calls for decisive actions to match sustainable development goals, among which key factors are the reduction of energy consumption and carbon footprint. Agri-food sector is one of the main priority areas contained in the European Sustainable Production and Consumption policies, aiming to create more sustainable consumption and production patterns and pushing for environmental international agreements for climate change mitigation and national laws for the efficient use of resources. An exploratory analysis of website quality in the agrifood sector: The case of extra virgin olive oil

2018

Besides verifying the current consistency on the Internet of websites set up by Sicilian (Southern Italy) EVO oil firms, this paper aims to verify their e-service quality by evaluating which main quality features, as derived from the literature, they have. To process the data, descriptive statistics were used, which allowed detection of the presence/absence of the variables examined. The study found 280 websites with some qualitative gaps. Findings highlight that EVO oil firms do not exploit the potentialities of the web adequately. They often use the Internet as a communication and promotion tool, but only to a lesser degree for e-commerce. The results may be useful to both agrifood manage…

Governance della filiera tra intervento pubblico e autonomia privata

2020

This volume deals with the complex issue of the agri-food chain, which is a formula for synthesis around which the doctrinal and ideological debate has developed on the process of integrating legal relations that is established from agricultural production to its placing on the market. The extent of the field of investigation, its limits and boundaries affect areas of relevance that affect related sectors with still ambiguous and undefined contours (agrobusiness, agri-food and agro-industrial). The characteristics of the agri-food industry, its differences from agro-industrial, its discipline are always disputed; and even now the legislation and authoritative and distinguished scholars deny…

Climate change, vulnerability and the local adaptation strategies of food enterprises in Finland

2015

This chapter discusses vulnerability and the adaptation strategies of Finnish food supply chains in the context of climate change. A case study was conducted in 2012 within three Finnish regions. The people interviewed were food entrepreneurs, the managers of food enterprises and relevant stakeholders. According to the study, food enterprises seem to trust local and decentralised food supply chains as an adaptation strategy for combating climate change. Hence, the case study discusses the benefits and learning challenges of food supply chain localisation and introduces the idea of food supply chains that react proactively to climate change issues. nonPeerReviewed

Measuring the Economic, Environmental, and Social Sustainability of Short Food Supply Chains

2019

The production and distribution of food are among the hot topics debated in the context of sustainable development. Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are now widely believed to be more sustainable in comparison to mass food delivery systems. To date, very little quantitative evidence exists on the impacts of various types of food supply chains. Using a cross-sectional quantitative approach, this study assesses the sustainability of distribution channels in short and long food supply chains based on 208 food producers across seven countries: France, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. Ten distribution channel types are used in this study. To provide a comprehensiv…

Równowaga długookresowa pomiędzy cenami w łańcuchu dostaw na rynku mleka

2019

Łańcuch dostaw żywności łączy działania, ze sfery pierwotnej produkcji rolnej (rolnika) aż do konsumenta. Obejmuje on producentów, dostawców, firmy transportowe, magazyny, sprzedawców hurtowych i detalicznych, organizacje usługowe oraz konsumentów. Zakres czasowy an…
