Research on trust has come to the forefront of communication studies. Beyond the dominant focus on informational trust and its country-specific articulations, trustworthiness evaluations can relate to the materiality of news and its global manifestations. Factors affecting the production of putrescine from agmatine by Lactobacillus hilgardii X1B isolated from wine

Aims: To elucidate and characterize the metabolic putrescine synthesis pathway from agmatine by Lactobacillus hilgardii X1B. Methods and Results: The putrescine formation from agmatine by resting cells (the normal physiological state in wine) of lactic acid bacteria isolated from wine has been determined for the first time. Agmatine deiminase and N-carbamoylputrescine hydrolase enzymes, determined by HPLC and LC-Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry, carried out the putrescine synthesis from agmatine. The influence of pH, temperature, organic acids, amino acids, sugars and ethanol on the putrescine formation in wine was determined. Applying Affordances Scale as a Design Method : Case Virtual Reality Course Design

Practitioners including designers and teachers developing Virtual Reality (VR) courses are facing a question regarding the strengths and subject areas in which VR-enriched courses might have the highest potential compared to conventional courses. The present study develops a survey scale to assess and match industry managers’ requirements for skills for working life. The same scale was surveyed among two different groups of higher education students participating in conventional courses and a VR-aided course. Aiemmat tutkimukset ovat osoittaneet vastakkainasettelun luokassa ja luokan ulkopuolella tapahtuvassa kielenkäytössä ja oppimisessa. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelen neljää amerikkalaista suomenoppijaa ja sitä, miten he hakeutuvat aktiivisina toimijoina itsenäisiin suomen kielen käyttötilanteisiin. Artikkelin aineistona on portfoliotehtävä, jossa oppijat ovat dokumentoineet ja reflektoineet itsenäistä, luokkahuoneen ulkopuolella tapahtuvaa kielenkäyttöään. Virtuaalioppimisympäristöt edustavat suhteellisen uutta opetusmuotoa. Näiden ympäristöjen suunnittelussa on opetukselle asetettujen vaatimusten huomioimisen lisäksi oleellista ymmärtää yksilön tavat kokea ja ymmärtää käytössä oleva teknologia. How secondary school pupils bring their informal learning experiences into a Content and Language Integrated (CLIL) classroom

This article explores how students’ informal language learning experiences with English find their way into the formal context of content-based language teaching (CLIL). The analysis is focused on stretches of classroom talk in which native Finnish-speaking students draw on their expertise of English-language popular culture, and use their knowledge as a semiotic resource for producing various types of actions.
