Patterns of Children’s Relationships With Parents and Teachers in Grade 1 : Links to Task Persistence and Performance

Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of children’s relationships with their parents and teachers, the development of these relationships during Grade 1, and respective links to children’s learning (in task persistence and performance). Parents of 350 children answered questionnaires about the quality of their relationships with their children; 25 teachers answered questions about children’s task persistence at school and the quality of their relationships with their students; 350 children completed literacy and math performance tests; and six testers evaluated children’s task persistence when completing those tests. The roles of achievement-related behaviours and parental beliefs in children´s mathematical performance

This study aimed to investigate the developmental dynamics between children's mathematical performance, the task-focused versus task-avoidant behaviours they show in the classroom, and their parents' beliefs concerning their school competence. The mathematical performance of 111 six- to seven-year-old children was tested, and their task-focused versus task-avoidant behaviours were rated by their teachers four times during their first school year. The aim of the research was to develop a motor skills assessment tool for 4-6- year-old children that would include test items for body awareness and basic motor skills, therefore demonstrating the children’s motor performance and related problems and supporting the planning of training programs. First, the contents of nine existing motor skills assessment tools were analyzed. Understanding Batesian mimicry is a classic problem in evolutionary biology. In Batesian mimicry, a defended species (the model) is mimicked by an undefended species (the mimic). Prior theories have emphasized the role of predator behavior and learning as well as evolution in model-mimic complexes but have not examined the role of population dynamics in potentially governing the relative abundances and even persistence of model-mimic systems. This qualitative study investigated the various linguistic, contextual, and experiential equivalence issues embedded in a performance-based instrument aimed at assessing generic skills in higher education. A rigorous translation and adaptation process (American English to Finnish) was conducted on one instrument, namely Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) International. This study aims to investigate the different listening experiences of Richard Wagner’s leitmotifs with and without verbal (external) information provided about the leitmotifs, their meanings and the librettos of the work. In the experiment half of the participants were asked to read and memorise written information about two leitmotifs, and then to listen to the two corresponding leitmotifs several times until they were memorised. Bibliotekāru informācijpratībai ir jābūt labā līmenī, lai kvalitatīvi apkalpotu bibliotēkas lietotājus. Līdz šim Latvijā nav veiktu pētījumu par bibliotekāru informācijpratību. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāds ir publisko bibliotēku bibliotekāru informācijpratības līmenis, un sniegt ieteikumus tā uzlabošanai. Datu ieguvei izmantotas anketēšanas, intervijas un verbālā uzdevuma metodes.
