Structural and magnetic characterization of the tridimensional network [Fe(HCO2)3]n·nHCO2H

2013

In this work we report the structural and magnetic characterization of a new three-dimensional porous metal–organic framework (MOF) based on iron(III) and the formate anion, [Fe(HCO2)3]n·nHCO2H (1), which was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The tridimensional structure crystallizes in the trigonal space group Rc and is formed by highly regular octahedral Fe(OHCO)6 units. These units contain six equal Fe–O distances, with angles slightly different from 90° or 180°. The packing of 1 corresponds to a 3D covalent network defined by face sharing between the parallelepipeds, which are formed by the interactions of Fe(OHCO)6 units through formate ligands, thus generating a 41263 topology. This…

Reactions of 1-isopropyl-3-methyl- and 2,3-dimethylindoles with triethyl orthoformate: New trisindolylmethanes

1987

Indoles 1 and 2 react with triethyl orthoformate under proton–catalyzed conditions to form trisindolylmethanes. The regioisomer distribution of the products is controlled by steric and electronic factors.

Photo- and Thermochromic and Adsorption Properties of Porous Coordination Polymers Based on Bipyridinium Carboxylate Ligands

2015

The zwitterionic bipyridinium carboxylate ligand 1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4'-bipyridinium (hpc1) in the presence of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate anions (BDC(2-)) and Zn(2+) ions affords three porous coordination polymers (PCPs): [Zn5(hpc1)2(BDC)4(HCO2)2]·2DMF·EtOH·H2O (1), [Zn3(hpc1)(BDC)2(HCO2)(OH)(H2O)]·DMF·EtOH·H2O (2), and [Zn10(hpc1)4(BDC)7(HCO2)2(OH)4(EtOH)2]·3DMF·3H2O (3), with the formate anions resulting from the in situ decomposition of dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent molecules. 1 and 3 are photo- and thermochromic, turning dark green as a result of the formation of bipyridinium radicals, as shown by electron paramagnetic resonance measurements. Particularly, crystals of 3 are very photo…

Tin-based mesoporous silica for the conversion of CO2 into dimethyl carbonate.

2011

Sn-based SBA-15 was prepared by reacting di-n-butyldimethoxystannane with SBA-15 pretreated with trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) to cap the external hydroxyl groups. Small-angle X-ray diffraction (SXRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), nitrogen adsorption/desorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission (ICP-AES) measurements allow us to propose that the organotin species are located within the pore channels of the mesoporous host. This novel material catalyzes selectively the coupling of CO(2) with methanol to dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The reaction time-conversion dependence shows that a turnover number (TON) of 1…

Thiosulfate Reduction in Salmonella enterica Is Driven by the Proton Motive Force

2012

ABSTRACT Thiosulfate respiration in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is catalyzed by the membrane-bound enzyme thiosulfate reductase. Experiments with quinone biosynthesis mutants show that menaquinol is the sole electron donor to thiosulfate reductase. However, the reduction of thiosulfate by menaquinol is highly endergonic under standard conditions (Δ E °′ = −328 mV). Thiosulfate reductase activity was found to depend on the proton motive force (PMF) across the cytoplasmic membrane. A structural model for thiosulfate reductase suggests that the PMF drives endergonic electron flow within the enzyme by a reverse loop mechanism. Thiosulfate reductase was able to catalyze the combined …

'Training the trainers' of teachers in France: assessment and outlook

2009

en ligne sur http://www.cedefop.europa.eu/EN/Files/EJVT47_en.pdf; International audience; With the creation of IUFMs (university institutes of teacher training) in the 1990s, the training of teacher trainers in France has become a fundamental part of the renewal of teacher training. It is seen as a fundamental lever for the IUFMs to achieve the tasks and goals entrusted to them: training teachers who need to accomodate the new demands of their profession. To do this, the IUFMs have established 'trainer training programmes'. A closer look at these programmes reveals that a professionalisation of trainers has begun which is giving the IUFMs a stronger role in working towards achieving the goa…

Complete genome sequence of the hydrogenotrophic, methanogenic archaeon Methanoculleus bourgensis strain MS2(T), Isolated from a sewage sludge digest…

2012

ABSTRACT Methanoculleus bourgensis , of the order Methanomicrobiales , is a dominant methanogenic archaeon in many biogas-producing reactor systems fed with renewable primary products. It is capable of synthesizing methane via the hydrogenotrophic pathway utilizing hydrogen and carbon dioxide or formate as the substrates. Here we report the complete and finished genome sequence of M. bourgensis strain MS2 T , isolated from a sewage sludge digester.

Prevention of fungal infestation of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) eggs using UV irradiation of the hatching water

2013

Abstract Fungal infestation by water mold Saprolegnia spp. causes great losses in aquaculture and fish egg hatching. To find a safe and effective alternative for the fungal prevention, we studied continuous disinfection of the inlet water by UV irradiation and ozonation combined with low concentration hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) treatments in a rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ) egg hatching system. High dose of UV irradiation (400 mWs/cm 2 ) of the inlet water decreased the mortality of rainbow trout eggs from the 77.3% to 14.3% in a 28 day trial. UV irradiation did not modify water quality parameters, while combination of UV irradiation and H 2 O 2 caused up to fivefold increase in th…

Effect of buffer nature and concentration on the chromatographic performance of basic compounds in the absence and presence of 1-hexyl-3-methylimidaz…

2019

Abstract In reversed-phase liquid chromatography, the performance for basic compounds is affected by the interaction of the protonated (cationic) species with the anionic free silanols on the alkyl-bonded stationary phases. Using aqueous-organic mobile phases in the absence of additives, the retention may be too high, and the peaks be broad and asymmetric. The performance is improved by addition to the mobile phase of ionic liquids, from which 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C6MIm][Cl]) has especially good characteristics. A recent report has also revealed that the use of the phosphate system as buffer, at varying concentration and pH, may have a significant role in the chromatograph…
