Monitoring managerial efficiency in the performing arts: A regional theatres network perspective

2006

Managerial efficiency within the performing arts programming can be understood as the technical efficiency of transforming the resources cultural managers have available into a determined cultural output. Through this explanation different conceptions on the finished performance product it leads us to select two different output variables (number of performances, and number of attendances). In this way, three different models are considered regarding those conceptual points of view. Data on the Circu¨ıt Teatral Valencia`, a Spanish regional theatres network, is used to develop empirically the concept of Managerial Efficiency and set up a framework to allow us to monitor it. Optimal design of tube hydroforming processes: A fuzzy-logic-based approach

2004

In recent years, tube hydroforming has become an economic and industrially suitable alternative to various traditional stamping processes, in particular for small batch production. In the present paper, an artificial intelligence system based on fuzzy logic was implemented for tube hydroforming process design. The aim was to achieve a process design procedure able to prevent forming defects and guarantee the achievement of the desired final shape of the component. In particular, the process design concerns the internal pressure history and the axial feeding. The fuzzy system is able to provide optimal trajectories for both the controlled parameters, producing a defect-free final part.

Process parameters calibration in 3D tube hydroforming processes

2007

In tube hydroforming the concurrent actions of pressurized fluid and mechanical feeding allow to obtain tube shapes characterized by complex geometries such as different diameters sections and/or bulged zones. What is crucial in such processes is the proper design of operative parameters aimed to avoid defects (for instance shape defects or ductile fractures). The main process parameters are material feeding history (i.e. the punches velocity history) and internal pressure path during the process. In more complex three dimensional processes, also the action of a counterpunch is generally useful to reduce thinning in particular in expansion zones of the tube (i.e. T or Y shaped tubes). The g…

A gradient-based decomposition approach to optimize pressure path and counterpunch action in Y-shaped tube hydroforming operations

2008

International audience; In tube hydroforming, the concurrent actions of pressurized fluid and mechanical feeding allows obtaining tube shapes characterized by complex geometries such as different diameters sections and/or bulged zones. Main process parameters are material feeding history (i.e., the punches velocity history), internal pressure path during the process, and (in T- or Y-shaped tube hydroforming) counterpunch action. What is crucial, in such processes, is the proper design of operative parameters aimed to avoid defects (for instance underfilling or ductile fractures). Actually, the design of tube hydroforming operations is mainly aimed to prevent bursting or buckling occurrence …

Optimization of the sheet hydroforming process parameters to improve the quality of reshaped EoL components

2023

Abstract. The reshaping of End-of-Life (EoL) components by means of sheet metal forming process has been considered largely attractive, even from the social and economic point of view. At the same time, EoL parts can be often characterized by non-uniform thicknesses or alternation of work-hardened/undeformed zones as the results of the manufacturing process. Such heterogeneity can hinder a proper reshaping of the EoL part and residual marks on the re-formed blanks can be still present at the end of the reshaping step. In a previous analysis, the authors evaluated the effectiveness of reshaping a blank with a deep drawn feature by means of the Sheet Hydroforming (SHF) process: it was demonst…

Auditory and Cognitive Deficits Associated with Acquired Amusia after Stroke: A Magnetoencephalography and Neuropsychological Follow-Up Study

2010

Acquired amusia is a common disorder after damage to the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory. However, its neurocognitive mechanisms, especially the relative contribution of perceptual and cognitive factors, are still unclear. We studied cognitive and auditory processing in the amusic brain by performing neuropsychological testing as well as magnetoencephalography (MEG) measurements of frequency and duration discrimination using magnetic mismatch negativity (MMNm) recordings. Fifty-three patients with a left (n = 24) or right (n = 29) hemisphere MCA stroke (MRI verified) were investigated 1 week, 3 months, and 6 months after the stroke. Amusia was evaluated using the Montreal Battery of …

“Com fa faena de fusta”. El retablo renacentista del gremio de carpinteros de Valencia

2021

El gremio de carpinteros de Valencia costeó un nuevo retablo a partir de 1542, que fue realizado por el escultor Damià Gonçalbes. Sus pinturas fueron contratadas con Onofre Falcó, y los temas representados constituyen un discurso autorreferencial que justifica visualmente el viraje en el patronazgo corporativo y dignifica el oficio al vincularlo a san José y otros santos.

Rethinking the stylistic categories of Portuguese 19th Century Sculpture: The Work of António Teixeira Lopes

2018

Evaluation of Franz Marc’s Color Theory using Implicit Testing Procedures

2018

In the early 20th century, the German expressionist painter Franz Marc formulated assumptions concerning the meanings of color, based on his individual sensations. He characterized the ‘cool’ blue as the ‘masculine principle’. Yellow represented the ‘feminine principle’ which he declared as ‘gentle, cheerful, and sensual’. This leaves red, the color he perceived as ‘brutal and heavy’. Here, we tested some of the color–meaning associations assumed by Franz Marc via implicit measures based on response times, using Single Category Implicit Association Tests. The participants had to classify words as belonging to one of two semantic categories (e.g., masculine or feminine) by pressing one of tw…
