ViziQuer: A Visual Notation for RDF Data Analysis Queries
2019
Visual SPARQL query notations aim at easing the RDF data querying task. At the current state of the art there is still no generally accepted visual graph-based notation suitable to describe RDF data analysis queries that involve aggregation and subqueries. In this paper we present a visual diagram-centered notation for SPARQL select query formulation, capable to handle aggregate/statistics queries and hierarchic queries with subquery structure. The notation is supported by a web-based prototype tool. We present the notation examples, describe its syntax and semantics and describe studies with possible end users, involving both IT and medicine students.
Path Integral approach via Laplace’s method of integration for nonstationary response of nonlinear systems
2019
In this paper the nonstationary response of a class of nonlinear systems subject to broad-band stochastic excitations is examined. A version of the Path Integral (PI) approach is developed for determining the evolution of the response probability density function (PDF). Specifically, the PI approach, utilized for evaluating the response PDF in short time steps based on the Chapman–Kolmogorov equation, is here employed in conjunction with the Laplace’s method of integration. In this manner, an approximate analytical solution of the integral involved in this equation is obtained, thus circumventing the repetitive integrations generally required in the conventional numerical implementation of …
Epitaxy and magnetotransport ofSr2FeMoO6thin films
2000
By pulsed-laser deposition epitaxial thin films of ${\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}{\mathrm{FeMoO}}_{6}$ have been prepared on (100) ${\mathrm{SrTiO}}_{3}$ substrates. Already for a deposition temperature of 320 \ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C epitaxial growth is achieved. Depending on deposition parameters the films show metallic or semiconducting behavior. At high (low) deposition temperature the FeMo sublattice has a rock-salt (random) structure. The metallic samples have a large negative magnetoresistance which peaks at the Curie temperature. The magnetic moment was determined to $4{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B}$ per formula unit (f.u.), in agreement with the expected value for an ideal ferrimagnetic ar…
Towards nonlinear optics with cold Rydberg atoms inside a hollow core fiber
2015
We present an experimental setup for studying strongly nonlinear light-matter interactions using cold atoms inside a hollow core fiber. A Rydberg EIT process can potentially be used to generate strong and tunable effective photon-photon interactions.
Strong enhancement of Penning ionization for asymmetric atom pairs in cold Rydberg gases: the Tom and Jerry effect
2016
We consider Penning ionization of Rydberg atom pairs as an Auger-type process induced by the dipole–dipole interaction and employ semiclassical formulae for dipole transitions to calculate the autoionization width as a function of the principal quantum numbers, n d , n i , of both atoms. While for symmetric atom pairs with the well-known increase of the autoionization width with increasing n 0 is obtained, the result for asymmetric pairs is counterintuitive—for a fixed n i of the ionizing atom of the pair, the autoionization width strongly increases with decreasing n d of the de-excited atom. For H Rydberg atoms this increase reaches two orders of magnitude at the maximum of the n d depende…
Rydberg Excitation of a Single Trapped Ion.
2015
We demonstrate excitation of a single trapped cold $^{40}$Ca$^+$ ion to Rydberg levels by laser radiation in the vacuum-ultraviolet at 122 nm wavelength. Observed resonances are identified as 3d$^2$D$_{3/2}$ to 51 F, 52 F and 3d$^2$D$_{5/2}$ to 64F. We model the lineshape and our results imply a large state-dependent coupling to the trapping potential. Rydberg ions are of great interest for future applications in quantum computing and simulation, in which large dipolar interactions are combined with the superb experimental control offered by Paul traps.
Trapped Rydberg ions: A new platform for quantum information processing
2020
Abstract In this chapter, we present an overview of experiments with trapped Rydberg ions and outline the advantages and challenges of developing applications of this new platform for quantum computing, sensing, and simulation. Trapped Rydberg ions feature several important properties, unique in their combination: they are tightly bound in a harmonic potential of a Paul trap, in which their internal and external degrees of freedom can be controlled in a precise fashion. High fidelity state preparation of both internal and motional states of the ions has been demonstrated, and the internal states have been employed to store and manipulate qubit information. Furthermore, strong dipolar intera…
Anharmonicity deformation and curvature in supersymmetric potentials
1994
An algebraic description of the class of 1D supersymmetric shape invariant potentials is investigated in terms of the shape-invariant-potential (SIP) deformed algebra, the generators of which act both on the dynamical variable and on the parameters of the potentials. The phase space geometry associated with SIP's is studied by means of a coherent state (SIP-CS) path integral and the ray metric of the SIP-CS manifold. The anharmonicity of SIP's results in a inhomogeneous phase space manifold with one Killing vector and with a modified symplectic Kahler structure, and it induces a non constant curvature into the generalized phase space. Analogous results from the phase space geometry of someq…
A product space reformulation with reduced dimension for splitting algorithms
2021
AbstractIn this paper we propose a product space reformulation to transform monotone inclusions described by finitely many operators on a Hilbert space into equivalent two-operator problems. Our approach relies on Pierra’s classical reformulation with a different decomposition, which results in a reduction of the dimension of the outcoming product Hilbert space. We discuss the case of not necessarily convex feasibility and best approximation problems. By applying existing splitting methods to the proposed reformulation we obtain new parallel variants of them with a reduction in the number of variables. The convergence of the new algorithms is straightforwardly derived with no further assump…
