Quadrature Formula Based on Interpolating Polynomials: Algorithmic and Computational Aspects
2007
The aim of this article is to obtain a quadrature formula for functions in several variables and to analyze the algorithmic and computational aspects of this formula. The known information about the integrand is {λi(f)}i=1n, where λi are linearly independent linear functionals. We find a form of the coefficients of the quadrature formula which can be easy used in numerical calculations. The main algorithm we use in order to obtain the coefficients and the remainder of the quadrature formula is based on the Gauss elimination by segments method. We obtain an expression for the exactness degree of the quadrature formula. Finally, we analyze some computational aspects of the algorithm in the pa…
Chromatographic multivariate quality control of pharmaceuticals giving strongly overlapped peaks based on the chromatogram profile
2004
In the present paper, the simultaneous quantification of two analytes showing strongly overlapped chromatographic peaks (alpha = 1.02), under the assumption that both available equipment and training of the laboratory staff are basic, is studied. A pharmaceutical preparation (Mutabase) containing two drugs of similar physicochemical properties (amitriptyline and perphenazine) is selected as case of study. The assays are carried out under realistic working conditions (i.e. routine testing laboratories). Uncertainty considerations are introduced in the study. A partial least squares model is directly applied to the chromatographic data (with no previous signal transformation) to perform quali…
1982
The molecular weight distribution (MWD) of a high polymer is calculated from a weakly perturbed Zimm-plot of the classical light scattering on dilute solutions of Gaussian polymer coils (theta state). A typical Zimm-plot is simulated corresponding to the measurements of high accuracy as would be obtained by using the laser photometer described by Hack and Meyerhoff. The accuracy as published by these authors for small dissymmetries is used. Two numerical methods for calculating the MWD are briefly described and tested, both using an empirical formula for the Laplace image of the calculated MWD.
The role of the Euclidean signature in lattice calculations of quasi-distributions and other non-local matrix elements
2017
Lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD) provides the only known systematic, nonperturbative method for first-principles calculations of nucleon structure. However, for quantities such as lightfront parton distribution functions (PDFs) and generalized parton distributions (GPDs), the restriction to Euclidean time prevents direct calculation of the desired observable. Recently, progress has been made in relating these quantities to matrix elements of spatially nonlocal, zero-time operators, referred to as quasidistributions. Even for these time-independent matrix elements, potential subtleties have been identified in the role of the Euclidean signature. In this work, we investigate the analytic …
Dual gauge-fixing property of the S matrix.
1996
The {ital S} matrix is known to be independent of the gauge-fixing parameter to all orders in perturbation theory. In this paper by employing the pinch technique we prove at one loop a stronger version of this independence. In particular, we show that one can use a gauge-fixing parameter for the gauge bosons inside quantum loops which is different from that used for the bosons outside loops, and the {ital S} matrix is independent of both. Possible phenomenological applications of this result are briefly discussed. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
Charmonium properties in hot quenched lattice QCD
2012
We study the properties of charmonium states at finite temperature in quenched QCD on large and fine isotropic lattices. We perform a detailed analysis of charmonium correlation and spectral functions both below and above $T_c$. Our analysis suggests that both S wave states ($J/\psi$ and $\eta_c$) and P wave states ($\chi_{c0}$ and $\chi_{c1}$) disappear already at about $1.5 T_c$. The charm diffusion coefficient is estimated through the Kubo formula and found to be compatible with zero below $T_c$ and approximately $1/\pi T$ at $1.5 T_c\lesssim T\lesssim 3 T_c$.
Developing the Framed Standard Model
2011
The framed standard model (FSM) suggested earlier, which incorporates the Higgs field and 3 fermion generations as part of the framed gauge theory structure, is here developed further to show that it gives both quarks and leptons hierarchical masses and mixing matrices akin to what is experimentally observed. Among its many distinguishing features which lead to the above results are (i) the vacuum is degenerate under a global $su(3)$ symmetry which plays the role of fermion generations, (ii) the fermion mass matrix is "universal", rank-one and rotates (changes its orientation in generation space) with changing scale $\mu$, (iii) the metric in generation space is scale-dependent too, and in …
Towards leading isospin breaking effects in mesonic masses with $O(a)$ improved Wilson fermions
2017
We present an exploratory study of leading isospin breaking effects in mesonic masses using $O(a)$ improved Wilson fermions. Isospin symmetry is explicitly broken by distinct masses and electric charges of the up and down quarks. In order to be able to make use of existing isosymmetric QCD gauge ensembles we apply reweighting techniques. The path integral describing QCD+QED is expanded perturbatively in powers of the light quarks' mass deviations and the electromagnetic coupling. We employ QED$_{\mathrm{L}}$ as a finite volume formulation of QED.
