Loneliness, Social Isolation, and Cardiovascular Health

Abstract Significance: Social and demographic changes have led to an increased prevalence of loneliness and social isolation in modern society. Recent Advances: Population-based studies have demonstrated that both objective social isolation and the perception of social isolation (loneliness) are correlated with a higher risk of mortality and that both are clearly risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Lonely individuals have increased peripheral vascular resistance and elevated blood pressure. Socially isolated animals develop more atherosclerosis than those housed in groups. Potential Influence of Helminth Molecules on COVID-19 Pathology

In recent months, the parasitology research community has been tasked with investigation of the influence of parasite coinfection on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outcomes. Herein, we share our approach to analyze the effect of the trematode Fasciola hepatica as a modulator of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and of COVID-19 pathology.

Public policy in families and successions regulations : the case of ?talaq?

According to EU Regulations on transnational families and successions, a foreign rule remains without effect if it is deemed contrary to the so-called public policy (ordre public) of the forum?s legal system. As a consequence, judges have to evaluate whether the application of foreign law is incompatible with fundamental principles of the domestic law, especially whether it would constitute a violation against human rights. An outstanding controversial issue is today represented by Islamic repudiation (talaq): two contrasting Italian judicial decisions of August 2020 may illustrate how difficult it could be to determine what public policy is.

Risk factors for internet gaming disorder in a sample of 5,979 italian online gamers.

Introduction: Online gaming is potentially harmful to a group, but not for the entire population, of online gamers. The prevalence varies by geographical areas, however, there are few Italian studies about risk factors for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) and its presence among non-occasional gamers. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the presence of IGD in internet gamers who participate in online communities, and how well-established risk-factors can predict it. Methods: Participants were surveyed about their playing habits and other relevant characteristics. IGDS-SF9 diagnosed IGD. Anàlisi de les interaccions en fòrums de discussió a través del Campus Andalús Virtual

En el presente trabajo se expone un análisis de las interacciones que se producen en una experiencia formativa a través del Campus Andaluz Virtual. Para ello, se han analizado un total de 284 cuestionarios de evaluación, así como 1538 mensajes que se han intercambiado en los foros de discusión destinados al trabajo colaborativo para resolver tareas académicas. Los resultados nos indican cuáles son los factores más importantes de una comunidad de aprendizaje y cuáles han sido las intervenciones más frecuentes en la realización de tareas de aprendizaje cooperativo en red.
