Social media users’ online subjective well-being and fatigue: A network heterogeneity perspective

Scholars have drawn increasing attention to the implications of the dark side of social media for users’ online subjective well-being (OSWB). We develop a research framework based on the limited-capacity model to examine the relationship between OSWB and social media fatigue. This contribution explores the role of wedding videos in shaping transnational social relationships. Examining the production and aesthetic means of these ‘mobile images of mobility’, I show how videographers serve as ritual and social specialists to bring to the fore a fictionalized, imagined place of transnational social relationships. As evidence of ‘memory objects’ for life events, these videos form the basis for mediated experiences in transnational settings, relating those depicted to those engaging in and those watching the videos. Social innovation is a process in which local communities build social and cultural capital to address challenges and social needs. The diffusion of social innovation requires compelling narratives that encourage people to join them. Using qualitative techniques and a multiple case study methodology, this paper examines the content of narratives of social innovation in rural areas and how actors construct, spread and change them. Summary Objective Congenital primary hypothyroidism (CH) occurs in one of 4000 births and in 20% of the cases CH is due to a defect in thyroid hormonogenesis. Candidate genes were examined to determine the precise aetiology of suspected dyshormonogenesis in CH. Design The genes that code for thyroid peroxidase (TPO), pendrin (PDS), sodium iodide symporter (NIS) and thyroid oxidase 2 (THOX2) were sequenced directly from genomic DNA.
