A Mobile Computing Framework for Pervasive Adaptive Platforms
2012
International audience; Ubiquitous computing is now the new computing trend, such systems that interact with their environment require self-adaptability. Bioinspiration is a natural candidate to provide the capability to handle complex and changing scenarios. This paper presents a programming framework dedicated to pervasive platforms programming. This bioinspired and agentoriented framework has been developed within the frame of the PERPLEXUS European project that is intended to provide support for bioinspiration-driven system adaptability. This framework enables the platform to adapt itself to application requirements at high-level while using hardware acceleration at node level. The resu…
Localization from inertial data and sporadic position measurements
2020
International audience; A novel estimation strategy for inertial navigation in indoor/outdoor environments is proposed with a specific attention to the sporadic nature of the non-periodic measurements. After introducing the inertial navigation model, we introduce an observer providing an asymptotic estimate of the plant state. We use a hybrid dynamical systems representation for our results, in order to provide an effective, and elegant theoretical framework. The estimation error dynamics with the proposed observer shows a peculiar cascaded interconnection of three subsystems (allowing for intuitive gain tuning), with perturbations occurring either on the jump or on the flow dynamics (depen…
Land use functions — a multifunctionality approach to assess the impact of land use changes on land use sustainability
2008
Part 5. Regional and local evaluation - 17; International audience; The dramatic changes in land use observed in Europe in the last fifty years have generally resulted in improvement of human welfare and economic development. On the other hand, they have caused serious environmental problems. There is therefore a need for approaches that help to understand in an integrative way the economic, environmental and societal impacts that land use changes have on sustainability. Sustainability Impact Assessment(SIA), which assesses the impact of policies on sustainability, addresses this challenge. SIA partly builds on the concept of the multifunctionality of land which helps to deal with the compl…
Développement d’un outil d’aide à la décision pour la gestion intégrée des adventices
2016
Integrated weed management consists in using several weed management techniques in a long-term approach. The vast number of techniques precludes cropping systems from being easily conceived and climatic interactions render the systems difficult to pursue. Farmers and farm advisors need decision support systems (DSS) to develop weed management strategies adapted to multicriteria/multiobjectives of weed management, to the economic, social and environmental stakes and to the constraints of farmers. Such a DSS is developed from the mechanistic weed dynamic model FLORSYS. This model is a “virtual field” allowing the evaluation of the performance of agricultural systems over a large range of agri…
Un établissement rural mérovingien à Delle "La queue au loup" (territoire de Belfort)
2010
This merovingian establishment discovered during an archaeological evaluation to the west of the town of Delle in the Belfort territory is located on the Batte hillside about 300 m from the large Gallo-roman domain on the opposite slope of the valley. This settlement is characterised by a large edifice built of stone and perishable materials, which replaces a timber framed building. The building covers 230 m2 and vestiges of the floors, partitions and interior fittings are preserved which is rare for the period. The analysis of phosphate levels has given indications as to the function of each room. The finds are modest, but they do date, along with radiocarbon analysis, the settlement from …
University Governance and Finance: The Impact of Changes in Resource Allocation on Decision Making Structures
2002
When trying to account for changes that take place over time in the structure of any organisation, social scientists often use a conceptual framework known as resource dependency theory. This theory assumes that organisations survive only if they are able to react to changes that occur in the world around them in order to obtain the resources they need to stay in operation. Since they have the capacity for independent action, organisations are not passively shaped by their environment; they sometimes are also able to influence it.
Target 5G visible light positioning signal subcarrier extraction method using particle swarm optimization algorithm
2021
International audience; With the explosive growth of demand for Internet of Things (IoT) applications and the increasing dependence of users on wireless connections, indoor location based service(LBS) under 5G-Public-Private Partnership (5G-PPP) using cases have received more attention and get rapid development. Thanks to the safty, security and customization of 5G network pointed by 5G forum white paper, indoor positioning systems using unified 5G New Radio (NR) signals have become the focus of the next generation of visible light positioning (VLP) systems. In 5G New Radio(NR) frame, totally 192 subcarriers are used to carry positioning reference signal(PRS). In order to improve the positi…
Developing a framework for designing humanitarian blockchain projects
2021
International audience; Blockchain technology promises to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of humanitarian operations. Yet at the same time, especially the humanitarian context with its characteristic volatility poses unique challenges to any technology. Most prominent are the humanitarian principles that are fundamental to humanitarian operations. These ethical principles are set to protect the most vulnerable populations. Designing blockchain projects in the humanitarian context therefore requires a systematic framework that helps humanitarians make critical choices. While some design instructions can be found for commercial applications, the humanitarian context re…
A 3D multispectral integrated acquisition system : acquisition, data coding and compression
2010
We have developed an integrated system permitting the simultaneous acquisition of the 3D shape and the spectral spectral reflectance of scanned object surfaces. We call this system a 3D multispectral scanner because it combines within a stereopair, a multispectral video camera and a structured light projector. We see several application possibilities for a such acquisition system but we want to highlight applications in the field of digital archiving and broadcasting for heritage objects. In the manuscript we first introduce the acquisition system and its necessary calibrations and treatments needed for his use. Then, once the acquisition system is functional, data that are generated are ri…
Blaming the Light, Claiming the Night. Actors, Issues and Effects of Lighting Conflicts in France since the 1980's
2014
International audience; Regarding environmental issues, conflictuality is a privileged way to reach the political arena. "Naming, Blaming, Claiming": three steps that make the controversy emerge, constitute the public issue, then bring it to the politi- cal agenda. These three stages are clearly identifiable in the history of night protection associative movements. These movements emerged in the 1970's in the United States of America, quickly disseminated enjoying a broader context of environmental thinking. Conflicts related to artificial lighting are structurally akin to conflicts of contradictory uses of a single resource: the night. For some - the technicists -, the night is the "good-s…
