Orientation Aids for Mobile Maps

Using mobile maps to represent urban, work, or entertainment environments offers new possibilities to plan and carry out tasks. One potentially critical problem in mobile map usage is the misalignment between the user's frame of reference and the frame of reference of the map. In the experiment reported here, three different ‘orientation aids’ were tested in the context of restricted space, such as a large factory hall. The aim of the study was to find out how user interface design can help the user mentally align misaligned frames of reference for efficient mobile map use. This paper investigates the fundamental period of vibration of RC buildings by means of finite element macro-modelling and modal eigenvalue analysis. As a base study, a number of 14-storey RC buildings have been considered \"according to code designed\" and \"according to code non-designed\". Several parameters have been studied including the number of spans; the span length in the direction of motion; the stiffness of the infills; the percentage openings of the infills and; the location of the soft storeys. Purpose The purpose of this paper seeks to develop a motivation-based complementary framework for temporally dynamic user preferences to facilitate optimal timing in web personalisation. It also aims to highlight the benefits of considering user motivation when addressing issues in temporal dynamics. Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags steht die Frage nach der linguistischen Dimension der Fachsprachenvermittlung. Gezeigt wird, dass die linguistische Aufbereitung authentischer, u.U. komplexer Fachtexte der gleichzeitigen Vermittlung von fachlichen Grundbegriffen und Fachsprache dienen kann. Dem Zusammenspiel zwischen Mikro- und Makroebene entsprechend erfolgt die Analyse auf textlinguistischem und kognitiv-semantischem Niveau.

Two formulations of a special multicriterion optimal design problem devoted to elastic perfectly plastic steel frame structures subjected to different combinations of static and dynamic loads are presented.
