Experimental Engineering of Arbitrary Qudit States with Discrete-Time Quantum Walks

The capability to generate and manipulate quantum states in high-dimensional Hilbert spaces is a crucial step for the development of quantum technologies, from quantum communication to quantum computation. One-dimensional quantum walk dynamics represents a valid tool in the task of engineering arbitrary quantum states. Here we affirm such potential in a linear-optics platform that realizes discrete-time quantum walks in the orbital angular momentum degree of freedom of photons. The Rohingya are one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. Military campaigns conducted by Myanmar against the Rohingya have led to numerous deaths, widespread cases of sexual violence, the destruction of hundreds of villages, and the deportation of more than 700,000 people to Bangladesh. These events have triggered proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC has arguably failed to address the religious dimensions of crimes and facts in some of its previous jurisprudence appropriately. A book of the Indian spiritual master Jddu Krishnamurti (Education and the Significance of life), translated in 1958 by Aldo Visalberghi and published by La Nuova Italia, contained anti-educational and provocative proposals unrelated to the interests of the pedagogists. There was, by the academic world, a timid curiosity about the critical and polemical elements of the Krishnamurtian philosophy, that ignored or misunderstood the new and original conception of the school, that pedagogy can now reconsiders for a critic reflection about the new educational emergencies.

Loneliness seems to be a leitmotif of Marguerite Duras’s literary oeuvre. It is interpreted by the writer primarily as a personal experience, a specific form of freedom, the dominant expression of which is silence expressing pain, loss, inability to communicate with other people, unfulfilled love. Loneliness is also seen as a sine qua non condition that allows one to focus on oneself, to close oneself in one’s own world. This is an indispensable element of the author’s poetics, the one having an ontological character, referring to “the way of thinking, reasoning”.
