Mocna kobieta - słaby mężczyzna: demaskatorski mit w twórczości Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette

2020

Colette’s work reveals the evolution of the woman’s self-awareness that took place in the 20th century, when she rejected the then-publicly accepted image of wife and mother. The author of the Claudine series through moral novelty, by addressing issues of gender identity and homosexuality, undermines stereotypes perpetuating inequalities between the sexes and male domination in the private and public sphere. She also changes the traditional way of portraying a woman in literature, creating a new type of heroine who provoked partners while fighting for her own independence.

Klasyczne modele racjonalizacji cierpienia i zła. Próba teologicznej oceny

2016

W artykule podjęto próbę teologicznej oceny klasycznych modeli racjonalizacji cierpienia i zła. I odwrotnie: wierzący postrzegają zło w świetle wiary. Dla chrześcij…

Hysteretic Systems Subjected to Delta Correlated Input

1994

The paper deals with the evaluation of the probabilistic response of a single degree of freedom elastic-perfectly plastic system subjected to a delta correlated input process. The probabilistic characterisation of the response is here obtained by considering the accumulated plastic deformations as a compound homogeneous Poisson process independent of the external input. In this case the former can be considered as an external noise acting on the linear system. A closed form solution is also obtained and the analytic expression is compared with the customary Monte-Carlo method.

Efficient Time Integration of Maxwell's Equations with Generalized Finite Differences

2015

We consider the computationally efficient time integration of Maxwell’s equations using discrete exterior calculus (DEC) as the computational framework. With the theory of DEC, we associate the degrees of freedom of the electric and magnetic fields with primal and dual mesh structures, respectively. We concentrate on mesh constructions that imitate the geometry of the close packing in crystal lattices that is typical of elemental metals and intermetallic compounds. This class of computational grids has not been used previously in electromagnetics. For the simulation of wave propagation driven by time-harmonic source terms, we provide an optimized Hodge operator and a novel time discretizati…

Institutional Autonomy and Academic Freedom in the Nordic Context — Similarities and Differences

2013

Owing to their common history, similarities in language and culture, long traditions in political collaboration and the shared Nordic societal model, an assumption is often made that the operational and regulatory context of universities is similar in the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. In this article, we examine the relationship between the Nordic higher education institutions and their specific governments. The interpretation of institutional autonomy and academic freedom in the Nordic countries is discussed with support from recently collected empirical data, Nordic university legislation and the topical research literature. We describe the differenc…

Branching Ratios and Spectral Functions of $\tau$ Decays: final ALEPH measurements and physics implications

2005

The full LEP-1 data set collected with the ALEPH detector at the $Z$ pole during 1991-1995 is analysed in order to measure the $\tau$ decay branching fractions. Extensive systematic studies are performed, in order to match the large statistics of the data sample corresponding to over 300 000 measured and identified $\tau$ decays. Branching fractions are obtained for the two leptonic channels and eleven hadronic channels defined by their respective numbers of charged particles and $\pi^0$'s. Using previously published ALEPH results on final states with charged and neutral kaons, corrections are applied to the hadronic channels to derive branching ratios for exclusive final states without kao…

ISSUES ON THE POSITION OF EUROPEAN EASTERN COUNTRIES IN WORLD RANKINGS INCLUDING ELEMENTS OF TAXATION

2012

Taxation is an essential component of any nation. Taxation, with its economic and social implications, is taken into account when the world rankings are made. The level of fiscal pressure, the design of the tax system, the number of taxes, the relationship between taxpayers with the fiscal administration, the principles of taxation, the existence of a real partnership between the taxpayer and the state are a part of fiscal elements that determine attractiveness or rejection from a particular country. Without claiming an exhaustive approach, our work presents some fiscal aspects from Eastern European countries found in world rankings, by emphasizing the influence of these factors on the posi…

Invisible streams : Process-thinking in Arendt

2016

For Hannah Arendt, some of the most distinctive features of the modern age derived from the adoption of a process-imaginary in science, history, and administration. This article examines Arendt’s work, identifying what it calls the ‘process-frame’ in her criticism of imperialism, economy, and the biologization of politics. It discusses an interpretation in which ‘natality’ presents a completely alternative mode of temporality, a resistance to the process-frame. This interpretation, it is argued, needs to be specified by taking into account that political action both interrupts and starts processes of its own. To confine and overcome the negative effects of process-framing, it is important t…

L'espace de liberté comme mesure synthétique du développement territorial durable

2011

By discussing the concept of development itself, authors propose two synthetic indexes relying on estimation of potential: Development Space Value and Development Space Creation Under the weak hypothesis that any successful development improves future possibilities, changes in potential are a good development measure. In their path, authors show how development space is tied with freedom: a shrink in it results mechanically in indexes fall. So, "sustainable" and "economic" become two sides of same piece rather than enemies. Reliable in simulations, the approach is to be tested in real conditions, to verify full data availability and to secure calculating methods.

Contraintes et libertés textuelles

2006

The article starts from a conception of language according to which the semiotic units that speakers use do not emanate from individual mental processes but from the socialization of representation instruments which, being individual elements initially, have later been involved in processes of communicative circulation. In the same way that, in each language, verbal uses are limited by a series of restrictions in the constitution of some phonic, lexical or morphosyntactic structures, there are also some other constraints that affect textual genres. This means that these are the product of the history of the uses of language and that they work at a praxeologic level. These ideas apply to the…
