Pulkkinen, L.: Identity achievement and cultural values. Nordisk Psykologi, 1987, 39 (3), 186–202. Relationships between identity achievement and cultural values were studied with 240 young adults. A questionnaire contained a scale for Identity Achievement modified from Crotevant & Adams' (1984) EOM-EIS and questions concerning the importance of various values (e.g. religious, scientific) for one's life, and expectations about and fears of the future. Ello nos ha llevado a intentar codificar su pensamiento sobre la amistad y el amor en relación, sobre todo, con Aristóteles y Cicerón. Life Satisfaction and Psychological Distress of African Immigrants in Italy and Spain: the protective role of social support and sense of community

This article analyzes whether migrants’ distress factors are reduced, and life satisfaction increased by the sense of community and support from friendship or family networks, with age and length of residence serving as co-variables. Host country, gender, migration (economic/non-economic), employment (employed/unemployed) and legal status (regulated/unregulated) were all treated as moderating variables. We tested this theoretical model in two samples of African immigrants residing in Palermo (Italy) and Malaga (Spain), confirming the predictive capacity of the independent variables. Interaction Theory and the Social Network

Interaction theorists have delineated the close association in friendship relations between value consensus, affectional closeness, and interaction. Categorical investigations of the social network have focused upon frequency of interaction with friends and kin. In the present paper a componential theory of attraction in the social network is developed in order to link previous theoretical discussions with the empirical social network categories. Two attractional variables, one based upon consensus and the other upon positive concern, are perceived as interpreting friendship and kinship involvements. This article focuses on the use of the concept of friendship in the treaties of friendship concluded by the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union in the twentieth century. The range of reference of friendship and its usage by these two political rivals display a number of commonalities, which indicate a key role this concept plays in maintaining the existing order of interstate relations. The concept is conventionally used in the treaties marking the changes in the global or regional political settings.
