Optimal control for state constrained two-phase Stefan problems

1991

We give a new approach to state constrained control problems associated to non-degenerate nonlinear parabolic equations of Stefan type. We obtain uniform estimates for the violation of the constraints.

Convergence analysis of cubature Kalman filter

2014

This paper investigates the stability analysis of cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for nonlinear systems with linear measurement. The certain conditions to ensure that the estimation error of CKF remains bounded are proved. Then, the effect of process noise covariance is investigated and an adaptive process noise covariance is proposed to deal with large estimation error. Accordingly, a modified CKF (MCKF) is developed to enhance the stability and accuracy of state estimation. The performance of the MCKF is compared to the CKF by two case studies. Simulation results demonstrate that the large estimation error may lead to instability of CKF while the MCKF is successfully able to estimate the sta…

Effects of $CP$-violating internucleon interactions in paramagnetic molecules

2020

We demonstrate that electron electric dipole moment experiments with molecules in paramagnetic state are sensitive to $P,T$-violating nuclear forces and other $CP$-violating parameters in the hadronic sector. These experiments, in particular, measure the coupling constant $C_{SP}$ of the $CP$-odd contact semileptonic interaction. We establish relations between $C_{SP}$ and different $CP$-violating hadronic parameters including strength constants of the $CP$-odd nuclear potentials, $CP$-odd pion-nucleon interactions, quark-chromo EDM and QCD vacuum angle. These relations allow us to find limits on various $CP$-odd hadronic parameters.

The state of iron in andalusite

1990

Iron in andalusite (Al2SiO5) with concentrations of 1.5 … 4.3 wt-% has been reported in the literature to occupy mainly Al1 sites as Fe3+, and only small portions occupy Al2 sites as Fe3+ and Fe2+. In no case a magnetic hyperfine splitting has been found at temperatures above 77 K.

Functional Analysis Method for Nonlinear Theory of Gyrotrons

2019

This paper proposes an analyzing method for the nonlinear theory of gyrotrons based on the functional analysis theory. This method is computationally efficient and highly practical, and the results have good accuracy as that of the self-consistent theory. Moreover, the stability of the gyrotron can be easily analyzed by the trajectory of the mapped efficiency space based on the fixed point of the functional analysis theory. The validity and effectiveness of the presented method are verified by the results of self-consistent theory and experiments presented in the references, such as typical examples of gyrotrons working at various frequencies and modes.

Limits on entropic uncertainty relations

2010

We consider entropic uncertainty relations for outcomes of the measurements of a quantum state in 3 or more mutually unbiased bases (MUBs), chosen from the standard construction of MUBs in prime dimension. We show that, for any choice of 3 MUBs and at least one choice of a larger number of MUBs, the best possible entropic uncertainty relation can be only marginally better than the one that trivially follows from the relation by Maassen and Uffink for 2 bases.

First observation of high-K isomeric states in $$^{249}$$Md and $$^{251}$$Md

2021

Decay spectroscopy of the odd-proton nuclei $^{249}$Md and $^{251}$Md has been performed. High-K isomeric states were identified for the first time in these two nuclei through the measurement of their electromagnetic decay. An isomeric state with a half-life of 2.8(5) ms and an excitation energy $\ge 910$ keV was found in $^{249}$Md. In $^{251}$Md, an isomeric state with a half-life of 1.4(3) s and an excitation energy $\ge 844$ keV was found. Similarly to the neighbouring $^{255}$Lr, these two isomeric states are interpreted as 3 quasi-particle high-K states and compared to new theoretical calculations. Excited nuclear configurations were calculated within two scenarios: via blocking nucle…

Study of the exclusive initial-state-radiation production of the D¯¯¯D system

2006

A study of exclusive production of the $D \bar D$ system through initial-state r adiation is performed in a search for charmonium states, where $D=D^0$ or $D^+$. The $D^0$ mesons are reconstructed in the $D^0 \to K^- \pi^+$, $D^0 \to K^- \pi^+ \pi^0$, and $D^0 \to K^- \pi^+ \pi^+ \pi^-$ decay modes. The $D^+$ is reconstructed through the $D^+ \to K^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ decay mode. The analysis makes use of an integrated luminosity of 288.5 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the BaBar experiment. The $D \bar D$ mass spectrum shows a clear $\psi(3770)$ signal. Further structures appear in the 3.9 and 4.1 GeV/$c^2$ regions. No evidence is found for Y(4260) decays to $D \bar D$, implying an up per limit $\frac{\…

Decay of the key 92-keV resonance in the 25Mg(p,γ) reaction to the ground and isomeric states of the cosmic γ-ray emitter 26Al

2021

Abstract The 92-keV resonance in the 25Mg ( p , γ ) 26 Al reaction plays a key role in the production of 26Al at astrophysical burning temperatures of ≈100 MK in the Mg-Al cycle. However, the state can decay to feed either the ground, 26 g Al, or isomeric state, 26 m Al. It is the ground state that is critical as the source of cosmic γ rays. It is therefore important to precisely determine the ground-state branching fraction f 0 of this resonance. Here we report on the identification of four γ-ray transitions from the 92-keV resonance, and determine the spin of the state and its ground-state branching fraction f 0 = 0.52 ( 2 ) s t a t ( 6 ) s y s t . The f 0 value is the most precise report…
