Integrability of the one dimensional Schrödinger equation

2018

We present a definition of integrability for the one dimensional Schroedinger equation, which encompasses all known integrable systems, i.e. systems for which the spectrum can be explicitly computed. For this, we introduce the class of rigid functions, built as Liouvillian functions, but containing all solutions of rigid differential operators in the sense of Katz, and a notion of natural boundary conditions. We then make a complete classification of rational integrable potentials. Many new integrable cases are found, some of them physically interesting.

Model approximation for two-dimensional Markovian jump systems with state-delays and imperfect mode information

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11045-013-0276-x This paper is concerned with the problem of {Mathematical expression} model approximation for a class of two-dimensional (2-D) discrete-time Markovian jump linear systems with state-delays and imperfect mode information. The 2-D system is described by the well-known Fornasini-Marchesini local state-space model, and the imperfect mode information in the Markov chain simultaneously involves the exactly known, partially unknown and uncertain transition probabilities. By using the characteristics of the transition proba…

On Horn spectra

1991

Abstract A Horn spectrum is a spectrum of a Horn sentence. We show that to solve Asser's problem, and consequently the EXPTIME = ? NEXPTIME question it suffices to consider the class of Horn spectra. We also pose the problem whether or not the generator of every Horn spectrum is a spectrum. We prove that from a negative solution of the generator problem, a negative answer for the EXPTIME = ? NEXPTIME question follows. Some other relations between the generator problem and Asser's problem are given. Finally, the relativized version of the generator problem is formulated and it is shown that it has an affirmative solution for some oracles, and a negative solution for some others.

A Multiplicity result for a class of strongly indefinite asymptotically linear second order systems

2010

We prove a multiplicity result for a class of strongly indefinite nonlinear second order asymptotically linear systems with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The key idea for the proof is to bring together the classical shooting method and the Maslov index of the linear Hamiltonian systems associated to the asymptotic limits of the given nonlinearity.

Positivity, complex FIOs, and Toeplitz operators

2018

International audience; We establish a characterization of complex linear canonical transformations that are positive with respect to a pair of strictly plurisubharmonic quadratic weights. As an application, we show that the boundedness of a class of Toeplitz operators on the Bargmann space is implied by the boundedness of their Weyl symbols.

Performance evaluation of three dynamic channel access strategies for spectrum leasing in CRNs

2015

Spectrum leasing in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) allows the primary network (PN) to lease a certain fraction of its licensed bandwidth to the secondary network (SN). The motivation for such a concept is to enhance the performance of SNs while improving channel utilization. Meanwhile, the license owners of the channels can also gain benefits through spectrum leasing in terms of either monetary rewards or cooperative communications. In this paper, we propose three dynamic channel access strategies for spectrum leasing in multi-channel CRNs. A common characteristic of all these strategies is that the priority for channel access over the leased spectrum is given to SNs and the unleased spect…

Complexity analysis of spectrum access strategies with channel aggregation in CR networks

2012

Cognitive radio has been introduced to increase spectrum utilization efficiency. To further improve bandwidth utilization of cognitive radio users, channel aggregation (CA) techniques can be adopted for spectrum access. In this paper, we analyze the complexity of three CA strategies, in terms of required amount of handshakes for channel adaptation due to primary and secondary user activities. Continuous time Markov chain models are developed to evaluate the total number of handshakes required per unit time by different CA strategies and the analytical results are validated by simulations. Numerical results reveal that the complexity of CA strategies depends on the capability and the design …

A complete characterization of all weakly additive measures and of all valuations on the canonical extension of any finite MV-chain

2010

We consider extensions of the unique additive measure on a finite MV-chain to uncertainty measures on its canonical Girard algebra extension. If the underlying MV-chain has more than two non-trivial elements, in a previous paper we have proved the non-existence of strongly additive measure extensions, where strong additivity is defined as additivity not for all disjoint unions but only restricted to the so-called divisible disjoint unions. This negative result motivates to look for weakly additive measure extensions which are defined to be additive only on all MV-subalgebras of the canonical Girard algebra extension. We obtain a characterization of all such MV-subalgebras which are in fact …

Stochastic Processes on Ends of Tree and Dirichlet Forms

2016

We present main ideas and compare two constructions of stochastic processes on the ends (leaves) of the trees with varying numbers of edges at the nods. In one of them the trees are represented by spaces of numerical sequences and the processes are obtained by solving a class of Chapman-Kolmogorov Equations. In the other the trees are described by the set of nodes and edges. To each node there is naturally associated a finite dimensional function space and the Dirichlet form on it. Having a class of Dirichlet forms at the nodes one can under certain conditions build a Dirichlet form on L2 space of funcions on the ends of the trees. We show that the state spaces of two approaches are homeomo…

2010

In this note, we study the spectrum and give estimations for the spectral radius of linear combinations of two projections in C*-algebras. We also study the commutator of two projections.
