ABSTRACT Fusarium oxysporum is typically a soilborne fungus but can also be found in aquatic environments. In hospitals, water distribution systems may be reservoirs for the fungi responsible for nosocomial infections. F. oxysporum was previously detected in the water distribution systems of five French hospitals. Sixty-eight isolates from water representative of all hospital units that were previously sampled and characterized by translation elongation factor 1α sequence typing were subjected to microsatellite analysis and full-length ribosomal intergenic spacer (IGS) sequence typing. Five fungal endophytes (K4, K5, K6, K9, K14) producing Cajaninstilbene acid (CSA, 3-hydroxy-4-prenyl-5-methoxystilbene-2-carboxylic acid) were isolated from the roots of pigeon pea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]. CSA is responsible for the prominent pharmacological activities in pigeon pea. The amount of CSA in culture solution varied among the five fungal endophytes. K4 produced the highest levels of CSA (1037.13 µg/L) among the endophytes tested after incubation for five days. Disseminated fusariosis in immunocompromised patients

Immunocompromised patients are at high risk of developing serious disseminated infections by opportunistic fungi (Aspergillus, Candida, and Fusarium spp), which frequently present as cutaneous lesions, sometimes as a first sign. Prolonged and deep neutropenia, immunodepressive treatments (systemic steroids and chemotherapy) and severe T-cell immunodeficiency are the most important risk factors. We report 2 patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who developed multiple tender erythematous skin lesions on their legs and arms during chemotherapy treatment. Fuzariozy zbóż wywoływane są przez fitopatogenne grzyby strzępkowe rodzaju Fusarium, które przyczyniają się do strat gospodarczych, co wynika z ich patogenności i toksynotwórczości.
