Aspects and Potentiality of Unconventional Modelling of Processes in Sporting Events
1999
This paper describes how inexact processes as presented in sporting events can be recorded, analysed, and evaluated by means of neural networks and fuzzy modelling.
Fuzzy Logic for Medical Engineering: An Application to Vessel Segmentation
2007
A heuristic fuzzy algorithm for assessing and managing tourism sustainability
2019
“Smartness” and “sustainability” are gaining growing attention from both practitioners and policy makers. “Smartness” and “sustainability” assessments are of crucial importance for directing, in a systemic perspective, the decision-making process toward sustainability and smart growth objectives. Sustainability assessment is a major challenge due to the multidisciplinary aspects involved that make the evaluation process complex and hinder the effectiveness of available monitoring tools. To achieve the assessment objective, we introduce an enhanced fuzzy logic-based framework for handling the inherent uncertainty and vagueness of the involved variables: we apply our approach to Italy, and we…
A theory of spatial general equilibrium in a fuzzy economy
1984
Let an economic space be characterized by the existence of a given distribution of locations, i.e. consumers' residential locations and producers' plants. It is equipped with a system of prices. The economy is fuzzy because the economic behaviors of agents are imprecise. In this context, spatial partial equilibria theories are applications of a fuzzy economic calculation model. The aim of the present paper is to study the conditions which must be fulfilled in order that the compatibility of consumers' equilibria and producers' equilibria be verified. Mathematical tools are Butnariu's theorems which extend the Brouwer's and Kakutani's theorems to the cases of fuzzy functions and fuzzy point-…
Selección de personal basada en métodos difusos
2011
Nuestro enfoque …
FCA-Net: Adversarial Learning for Skin Lesion Segmentation Based on Multi-Scale Features and Factorized Channel Attention
2019
International audience; Skin lesion segmentation in dermoscopic images is still a challenge due to the low contrast and fuzzy boundaries of lesions. Moreover, lesions have high similarity with the healthy regions in terms of appearance. In this paper, we propose an accurate skin lesion segmentation model based on a modified conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN). We introduce a new block in the encoder of cGAN called factorized channel attention (FCA), which exploits both channel attention mechanism and residual 1-D kernel factorized convolution. The channel attention mechanism increases the discriminability between the lesion and non-lesion features by taking feature channel int…
Fuzzy Cognitive Maps-Based Modelling of Residential Mobility Dynamics: GeoComputation Approach
2017
International audience; This paper is concerned with proposing a fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) driven approach for geocomputing urban dynamics (social, spatial and temporal) as a complex system. After an overview of FCMs, mathematical fundamentals methodology that this theory suggests are examined. Then, the formalization and algorithm implementation of a model apply to residential mobility in urban space based on FCMs is described. Very good results were obtained, demonstrating that the use of these modelling approach is good and reliable.
Spatial prediction of soil erosion susceptibility using a fuzzy analytical network process: Application of the fuzzy decision making trial and evalua…
2018
Soil erosion is a worldwide threat that results in soil degradation, agriculture abandonment, and crop yield reduction. There is a need to find methods to survey soil erosion rates in order to improve and develop sustainable land planning. The present study utilizes new approaches based on the fuzzy set both in designing the problem (through the fuzzy decision making trial and evaluation laboratory) and in prioritizing the effective factors to mitigate soil erosion (using a fuzzy analytical network process, FANP). This study is first to apply these methods to soil erosion. A set of geo‐environmental factors influencing soil erosion was characterized to evaluate the potential risk of soil er…
Non linear control of glycaemia in type 1 diabetic patients
2011
A fuzzy controller for the closed loop control, by insulin infusion of glycaemia in type 1 diabetic patients is proposed. The controller uses type-2 fuzzy sets. The controller was tested in simulation using a complex nonlinear model of the glucose metabolism. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness and the robustness of the type-2 fuzzy logic controller. The design of the controller uses an optimization method based on genetic algorithms. This makes the type-2 fuzzy controller more efficient and faster than a fuzzy controller with type-1 fuzzy sets, allowing a more accurate control of the glucose in the blood.
Analyzing Protein-Protein Spatial-Temporal Dependencies from Image Sequences Using Fuzzy Temporal Random Sets
2008
Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (TIRFM) allows us to image fluorescenttagged proteins near the plasma membrane of living cells with high spatial-temporal resolution. Using TIRFM imaging of GFP-tagged clathrin endocytic proteins, areas of fluorescence are observed as overlapping spots of different sizes and durations. Standard procedures to measure protein-protein colocalization of dual labeled samples threshold the original graylevel images to segment areas covered by different proteins. This binary logic is not appropriate as it leaves a free tuning parameter which can influence the conclusions. Moreover, these procedures rely on simple statistical analysis based on corre…
