Análisis geodemográfico y planificación territorial en España

2002

This article studies the current role of geodemographic analysis in Spanish spatial planning; its importance, gaps and problems. This is done both from a theoretical and planning perspectives. The theoretical perspective studies the references to the population in the legal norm of the several forms of planning, and in particular in the very recent Autonomous Regions' laws. The planning perspective refers to the specific spatial plans that have been aproved. The article identifies three types of spatial planning: urban planning, town and country planning and environmental planning. Therefore, excluding the sectorial planning with spatial incidence.

Identification of HSP90 as a new GABARAPL1 (GEC1)-interacting protein

2011

GABARAPL1 belongs to the small family of GABARAP proteins (including GABARAP, GABARAPL1 and GABARAPL2/GATE-16), one of the two subfamilies of the yeast Atg8 orthologue. GABARAPL1 is involved in the intracellular transport of receptors, via an interaction with tubulin and GABA(A) or kappa opioid receptors, and also participates in autophagy and cell proliferation. In the present study, we identify the HSP90 protein as a novel interaction partner for GABARAPL1 using GST pull-down, mass spectrometry and coimmunoprecipitation experiments. GABARAPL1 and HSP90 partially colocalize in MCF-7 breast cancer cells overexpressed Dsred-GABARAPL1 and in rat brain. Moreover, treatment of MCF-7 cells overe…

The J-invariant, Tits algebras and Triality

2012

In the present paper we set up a connection between the indices of the Tits algebras of a simple linear algebraic group $G$ and the degree one parameters of its motivic $J$-invariant. Our main technical tool are the second Chern class map and Grothendieck's $\gamma$-filtration. As an application we recover some known results on the $J$-invariant of quadratic forms of small dimension; we describe all possible values of the $J$-invariant of an algebra with orthogonal involution up to degree 8 and give explicit examples; we establish several relations between the $J$-invariant of an algebra $A$ with orthogonal involution and the $J$-invariant of the corresponding quadratic form over the functi…

Aukso vilna ir auksavilnis avinas: antikinių literatūros šaltinių liudijimai ir interpretacija

2018

The Golden Fleece figures in Greek mythology as the objective of the voyage of the Argonauts. The incompatability of the object of the search with the effort invested in its acquisition has furthered discussion of the real meaning of the Golden Fleece, which has generally been accepted to be a metaphor since antiquity. Modernity, especially at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, has been productive and inventive in the decipherment attempts of the metaphor’s hidden meaning. A number of interpretation theories has been developed, which, though interesting and wellargumented, are sometimes highly divergent from the interpretation of the Golden Fleece in the ancient sources. A proper unde…

The novel dual PI3K/mTOR inhibitor GDC-0941 synergizes with the MEK inhibitor U0126 in non-small cell lung cancer cells.

2011

Lung cancer is a malignant disease with poor outcome, which has led to a search for new therapeutics. The PI3K/Akt/mTOR and Ras/raf/Erk pathways are key regulators of tumor growth and survival. In the present study, their roles were evaluated by MTT assay, flow cytometry and Western blotting in lung cancer cells. We found that a high efficacy of antitumor activity was shown with GDC-0941 treatment in two gefitinib-resistant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines, A549 and H460. In addition, H460 cells with activating mutations of PIK3CA were relatively more sensitive to GDC-0941 than A549 cells with wild-type PIK3CA. Furthermore, GDC-0941 was highly efficacious in combination with U0…

Involvement of the transcription factor FoxM1 in contact inhibition

2012

Contact inhibition is a crucial mechanism regulating proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Although it is generally accepted that contact inhibition plays a pivotal role in maintaining tissue homeostasis, the molecular mechanisms of contact inhibition are still not fully understood. FoxM1 is known as a proliferation-associated transcription factor and is upregulated in many cancer types. Vice versa, anti-proliferative signals, such as TGF-β and differentiation signals decrease FoxM1 expression. Here we investigated the role of FoxM1 in contact inhibition in fibroblasts. We show that protein expression of FoxM1 is severely and rapidly downregulated upon contact inhibition, probably by inhibiti…

Coupling of endothelin receptors to the ERK/MAP kinase pathway. Roles of palmitoylation and G(alpha)q.

2001

Endothelins are potent mitogens that stimulate extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK/MAP kinases) through their cognate G-protein-coupled receptors, ET(A) and ET(B). To address the role of post-translational ET receptor modifications such as acylation on ERK activation and to identify relevant downstream effectors coupling the ET receptor to the ERK signaling cascades we have constructed a panel of palmitoylation-deficient ET receptor mutants with differential G(alpha) protein binding capacity. Endothelin-1 stimulation of wild-type ET(A) or ET(B) induced a fivefold to sixfold increase in ERK in COS-7 and CHO cells whereas full-length nonpalmitoylated ET(A) and ET(B) mutants failed to …

Novel combination of celecoxib and proteasome inhibitor MG132 provides synergistic antiproliferative and proapoptotic effects in human liver tumor ce…

2010

Molecular targeted therapy has shown promise as a treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Celecoxib (Celebrex®) exhibits antitumor effects in human HCC cells, and its mechanism of action is mediated either by its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) or by a number of various other COX-2 independent effects. Proteasome inhibitors (PIs) can exert cell growth inhibitory and apoptotic effects in different tumor cell types, including HCC cells. The present study examined the interaction between celecoxib and the PI MG132 in two human liver tumor cell lines HepG2 and HA22T/VGH. Our data showed that each inhibitor reduced proliferation and induced apoptosis in a dose-dependen…

Local validation of MODIS sensor sea surface temperature on western Mediterranean shallow waters

2014

The sea surface temperature (SST) estimated from MODIS Aqua products (daytime and nighttime 11 μm and night 4 μm) has been correlated with field data taken at three depths (15, 50, 100 cm) in a Western Mediterranean coastal area. The comparison has allowed us to analyze the uncertainty in the estimation of this parameter in coastal waters using low spatial resolution satellite images. The results show that the daytime SST_11 μm product obtains fittest statistical values: RMSE (root mean square error) and r2 (Pearson’s correlation coefficient) of 1°C and 0.96, respectively, for 50 cm depth.
