Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādas savstarpējās sakarības pastāv starp izdegšanu, iesaisti darbā un emociju regulāciju. Tāpēc tika izvirzītas divas hipotēzes par to, ka pastāv pozitīva saistība starp emociju apspiešanu un izdegšanu. Otra hipotēze par to, ka izdegšana ir negatīvi saistīta ar iesaisti darbā.
