Reconstruction from boundary measurements for less regular conductivities

In this paper, following Nachman's idea and Haberman and Tataru's idea, we reconstruct $C^1$ conductivity $\gamma$ or Lipchitz conductivity $\gamma$ with small enough value of $|\nabla log\gamma|$ in a Lipschitz domain $\Omega$ from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map $\Lambda_{\gamma}$. In the appendix the authors and R. M. Brown recover the gradient of a $C^1$-conductivity at the boundary of a Lipschitz domain from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map $\Lambda_{\gamma}$.
The effect of intermittent feeding on feed intake and compensatory growth of whitefish Coregonus lavaretus L.

Abstract Groups of juvenile whitefish, Coregonus lavaretus , were exposed for 6 weeks to three different feeding regimes: control (fed every day); 2 + 5 (fed during weekdays); and 2 + 2 (fed 2 days, starved 2 days). The fish in the 2 + 2 group ate and grew less than the controls but the 2 + 5 group was intermediate and did not differ statistically significantly from either of the other two groups. The fish in both treatment groups exhibited clear compensation for the reduced number of feeding days by increasing intake and consequently weight gain during the days when they were fed, and the compensation increased towards the end of the experiment. This study quantifies the causal effect of birth weight on cardiovascular biomarkers in adulthood using the Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns Study (YFS). We apply a multivariable Mendelian randomization (MVMR) method that provides a novel approach to improve inference in causal analysis based on a mediation framework. The results show that birth weight is linked to triglyceride levels (β = -0.294; 95% CI [-0.591, 0.003]) but not to low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels (β = 0.007; 95% CI [-0.168, 0.183]). About eight centuries after Heliodorus, the Greek novel resurfaced in the twelfth century, in Komnenian Byzantium, and again two centuries later under the Palaiologan dynasty. This latter literary revival was due to the political stability of the imperial Byzantine government, which promoted cultural production, rhetorical education, and patronage networks. Kallimachos and Velthandros, two Palaiologan romances presented as court literature, combine ancient and medieval tropes with rhetorical artistry to blur the boundaries between the artificial and the natural. Bacterial symbionts are omnipresent in insects, particularly aphids, and often exert important effects on the host ecology; however, examples of symbionts that mediate herbivore-plant interactions remain limited. Here, three clones with identical genetic backgrounds were established: a Hamiltonella defensa-free clone, H. defensa-infected clone and H. defensa-cured clone. H. defensa infection was found to increase the fitness of Sitobion miscanthi by increasing the total number of offspring and decreasing the age of first reproduction. Although most of the women (69.4%) had a normal BMI at start of pregnancy, only 37% had an adequate weight gain during pregnancy. Inadequate body weight gain was more common (44.8%) than excessive weight gain (18.2%), but 40% of overweight women and 50% of obese women had an excessive weight gain in pregnancy, with about 9% of the women in these categories gaining >18 kg during pregnancy (Table 1). Only 1.9% of the women had a vaginal delivery; elective and nonelective cesarean deliveries accounted for 81.3% and 16.7% of deliveries, respectively. Coordination of Wage Bargaining, Exchange Rate Stability and External Adjustment

The literature on the determinants of the rate of current account reversion has been limited to examining the role of exchange rate regimes. We propose that the degree of coordination of wage bargaining affects the speed of current account adjustment. Our point estimates are economically and statistically significant, suggesting that fragmented firm-level wage bargaining facilitates external adjustment. We also find a strong negative interaction between the effects of coordination of wage bargaining and exchange rate stability on the rate of current account reversion.

Abstract This paper analyzes the long-run strategic relationship between a firm and a union as a repeated bargaining game, where there is incomplete information on the player's motivation on both sides and each party has a fall-back position. The firm and the union will engage in a reputation-building activity, that will produce a limited number of strikes over time. The bargainer that succeeds in building up a reputation for toughness and obtains a favorable payoff in the long-run is, either the more patient (or alternatively the more centralized), or the party with a higher initial probability of stubbornness, or the party with a smaller fall-back position.
