This study examines the impact of governance mechanisms in monitoring or empowering top executives on firm performance. We distinguish between two competing theories, namely agency theory and stewardship theory, which hold conflicting assumptions about CEOs behaviour and hence offer different recommendations concerning corporate governance structure. In October 2014 I was elected President of the WFOT. I want to thank here the support of Dr. Lamberto Re, Professor Nabil Mawsof and Dr. Mark Weisser, that encouraged to me assume this task. Six society members and 20 individual members from 10 more countries were awaiting to grow. Our bylaws, written 9 years before, were not adapted to the current worldwide situation of the ozone therapy; even inside WFOT, some situations needed formalization, so updating the bylaws was a mandatory task.

Impact of rocket exhaust plumes on atmospheric composition and climate – an overview

Rockets are the only direct anthropogenic emission sources into the upper atmosphere. Gaseous rocket emissions include CO, N2, H2, H2O, and CO2, while solid rocket motors (SRM) additionally inject significant amounts of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) particles and gaseous chlorine species into the atmosphere. These emissions strongly perturb local at- mospheric trace gas and aerosol distributions. Here, the previous aircraft measurements in various rocket exhaust plumes including several large space shuttle launch vehicles are compiled. The observed changes of the lower stratospheric composition in the near field are summarized.
Artificial dielectric optical structures: A challenge for nanofabrication

Diffractive optical components can be made using multiple level kinoforms or single level artificial dielectric structures. The latter require the fabrication of pillars of equal depth but differing width and spacing. As a demonstration device, the diffractive optic equivalent of a wedge has been made in GaAs for use at 1.15 μm. The need for all pillars to have the same height was met by using a selective etch and a very thin etch-stop layer on AlGaAs. The experimental diffraction efficiency was 87.8%, among the best ever obtained and close to the theoretical maximum of 97.6%. © 1998 American Vacuum Society.
Bottle microresonator with actively stabilized evanescent coupling

The evanescent coupling of light between a whispering-gallery-mode bottle microresonator and a sub-wavelength-diameter coupling fiber is actively stabilized by means of a Pound-Drever-Hall technique. We demonstrate the stabilization of a critically coupled resonator with a control bandwidth of 0.1 Hz, yielding a residual transmission of (9 \pm 3) \times 10^-3 for more than an hour. Simultaneously, the frequency of the resonator mode is actively stabilized.
