Double-Network-Structured Graphene Oxide-Containing Nanogels as Photothermal Agents for the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer.

Here, we reported the production of hyaluronic acid/polyaspartamide-based double-network nanogels for the potential treatment of colorectal carcinoma. Graphene oxide, thanks to the huge aromatic surface area, allows to easily load high amount of irinotecan (33.0% w/w) and confers to the system hyperthermic properties when irradiated with a near-infrared (NIR) laser beam. We demonstrate that the release of antitumor drug is influenced both by the pH of the external medium and the NIR irradiation process. The dynamics of (57)Fe nuclei in Fe(III)-DNA condensates.

Abstract The dynamics of iron nuclei in the condensates obtained by interaction of Fe III with DNA, Fe III (DNA monomer) 2 , have been investigated by variable temperature 57 Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy. Studies were effected on gel and freeze-dried samples, obtaining nearly coincident values of the parameters isomer shift and nuclear quadrupole splitting in T ranges 20–260 K. Functions ln( A T / A 77.3 ) vs. T , here employed to investigate the dynamics of Fe nuclei, showed linear trends in the T ranges 20–150 and 150–260 K, respectively, the latter with larger slopes. The porosity of monolithic silica columns is measured by using different analytical methods. Two sets of monoliths were prepared with a given mesopore diameter of 10 and 25 nm, respectively and with gradated macropore diameters between 1.8 and 7.5 microm. Organic salts and aromatic substrates in two-component gel phase formation: the study of properties and release processes

To identify gel phases able to act as confined reaction media or materials for the removal of organic pollutants, we studied two-component gel phases formed by naphthalenedisulfonate diimidazolium salts in the presence of some organic guests, in 1-propanol solution. Guests differing in π-surface area, bulkiness and electronic properties were taken into account. Soft materials obtained were investigated for their thermal stability, self-repairing ability and morphology.
