Parental Trust in Teachers and Children’s Interest in Reading and Math: A Longitudinal Study

This study investigated cross-lagged associations between parental trust in a child’s teacher and children’s academic interest across Grades 1–4 in primary school. Parents rated trust in their child’s teacher, and 576 children reported their interest in reading and math at each grade. The results showed that high parental trust in a child’s teacher predicted the child’s high interest in math. In addition, the child’s high interest in reading in Grade 2 was related to the father’s subsequent trust in the teacher. peerReviewed

In this study, we introduce new insights into prosodic analyses as an emerging method to study what happens in classrooms interactions. We claim that the prosodic aspects (features of speech such as intonation, volume and pace) of talk are important, but under-represented in the learning sciences. These prosodic aspects may be used to complement, intensify or even reverse the linguistic content of speech. This chapter provides a report of a marketing investigation performed in synergy with private companies in order to activate a production chain for the cultivation and trade of Pleurotus nebrodensis. A recent experience of technological innovation carried out in a farm of the Madonie (N. Sicily) territory is also presented. Notes on the status of Critically Endangered species and pertinent legislation are also provided.
Gill area explains deviations from body size–metabolic rate relationship in teleost fishes

Whether gill area constrains fish metabolism through oxygen limitation is a debated topic. Here, the authors provide insights into this question by analysing mass-specific metabolic rates across 44 teleost fishes extracted from FishBase. They explore whether species deviations from metabolic rates predicted by body mass can be explained by species gill area. They show that the gill area explains c. 26%–28% of species-level deviations from mass-specific metabolic rates. Their findings suggest that gill area might indeed be one of the factors limiting metabolic rate in fishes.

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli eritellä ja kuvata monitoimijaisen pariterapiatilanteen istuntoja ja niissä tapahtuvia muutoshetkiä. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin sekä pariterapiaistuntojen dialogin ominaisuuksia että terapian osapuolten ihon sähkönjohtavuuden vasteita. Tutkimuksen aineistona oli Jyväskylän yliopiston tutkimus- ja opetusklinikalla videoidut ja litteroidut kahdeksan pariterapiatapauksen istuntoa, joista oli suoritettu myös kehon fysiologiset mittaukset. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin yksilöpsykoterapiassa käytäviä yhteistyösuhdekatkosten prosessointikeskusteluja asiakkaan ongelmallisen kokemuksen rakentumisen näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen ensimmäisessä vaiheessa tutkittiin yhteistyösuhteessa tapahtuvia muutoksia katkosten ja ratkaisuyritysten näkökulmasta. Toinen osa oli tutkia ongelmallisen kokemuksen rakentumista eli tarkastella asiakkaan sisäisiä dialogeja yhteistyösuhteen prosessointikeskusteluissa.
