Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an emerging chronic liver disease worldwide. Curcumin and andrographolide are famous for improving hepatic functions, being able to reverse oxidative stress and release pro-inflammatory cytokines, and they are implicated in hepatic stellate cell activation and in liver fibrosis development. Bone marrow biopsy in Hodgkin's lymphoma

In the study of patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) the evaluation of bone marrow biopsy (BMB) can be difficult. In this review we analyze the main diagnostic features and the clinical risk factors of BM involvement. Although the role of BMB is criticized by some authors, its value is irreplaceable in the staging of HL and in the diagnosis of primary medullary HL. The Ann Arbor staging committee criteria should be revised and updated in the light of the current immunohistochemical studies that give a fundamental help in the diagnostic process. A single BMB should be adequate for diagnosis in most instances. In cases of suspicious involvement a controlateral BMB could be performed.

We performed a multicenter study to validate the concept that a simple comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) can identify elderly, non-fit patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in whom curative treatment is not better then palliation, and to analyze potential benefits of treatment modulation after further subdividing the non-fit category by CGA criteria. One hundred and seventy-three patients aged > 69 treated with curative or palliative intent by clinical judgement only were grouped according to CGA into fit (46%), unfit (16%) and frail (38%) categories. Oral non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (O-NHLs) are a rare group of diverse lymphoid tissue malignancies and represent less than 5% of the oral cavity malignancies and 2% of all extra-nodal NHLs. Oral-NHLs affect the Waldeyer’s-ring, the salivary glands, the bone of the jaws and the oral mucosa, their clinical appearance is very heterogeneous. Among the risk factors for NHLs are immunosuppression (primary or secondary), autoimmunity and inflammation. O-NHLs share the same risk factors. A computer program has been developed for computer-assisted diagnosis (including subclassification) of flow cytometry data of acute leukaemias and non-Hodgkin lymphomas by means of artificial intelligence. Blood samples are taken from the splenic artery, vein and pulp of patients suffering from Hodgkin's disease (n=10) or hypersplenism (n=7) and undergoing splenectomy. In these samples, the relevant parameters of the respiratory gas exchange as well as glucose and lactate concentrations are determined. In hypersplenism (mean splenic wet weight: 543 g) the mean oxygen consumption of the splenic tissue amounts to 0.9 ml O2/100 g/min taking into account a mean splenic blood flow of 80 ml/100 g/min. The glucose uptake and the lactate release are 9 mg/100 g/min and 5.5 mg/100 g/min, respectively. The indolent non-Hodgkin lymphomas (i-NHLs) are characterised by ‘indolent’ clinical behaviour with slow growth and prolonged natural history. The watchful waiting (WW) strategy is a frequently employed treatment option in these patients. Primary extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphomas of the uterus and the breast: report of three cases

The authors describe one case of a rare primitive non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the uterus, and two cases of primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the breast. Histologically, the uterine lymphoma, although clinically confined to the uterus, was a diffuse large cell lymphoma, group G according to the Working formulation for Clinical Usage. The two cases of breast lymphoma were a centrocytic-centroblastic and a lymphoplasmocytoid non-Hodgkin lymphoma, respectively.
