Banku komunikācijas atbilstība jauniešu gaidām un vajadzībām: "Swedbank" un "SEB" banku piemēri

2020

Trešā nodaļa atvēlēta paaudžu raksturojumam un jauniešu segmenta raksturojumam - to vajadzībām, mediju lietojumu …

Legal nature of the Supreme Court resolutions

2020

Dyskeratosis congenita: Report of a case with literature review

2007

Leukoplakic lesion is not uncommon in clinical practice but its occurrence as a component of a syndrome is rare. Dyskeratosis congenita is a rare genodermatosis, which is characterized by triad of skin pigmentation, nail dystrophy and leukoplakic lesion in the oral cavity. It is important for dentists to now about Dyskeratosis Congenita because these leukoplakic lesions can spontaneously undergo malignant transformation. Majority of cases have been reported in dermatology or pediatrics literature whereas only few reports have appeared in dental literature. The purpose of reporting this case with review of recent literature is to create better awareness among dentists about the multisystem m…

Blocks to, and building blocks of, narrativity : fragments, anecdotes, and narrative lines in David Markson’s Reader’s block

2017

David Markson’s Reader’s block (1996) consists of 193 pages of quotations, anecdotes, names, and fragments. The book bears the paratext “A novel,” and the work has indeed been read as a narrative whole, in which “an aging author [...] contemplates the writing of a novel.” By being out of ordinary and therefore worth of telling, the anecdotes or curiosities seemingly fulfill the requirements of a “natural” narrative as defined by Monika Fludernik (1996). However, a mass of such mini-narratives, mixed with even more fragmentary texts, seems to defy narrativity (and tellability). In my reading, the ostensive block to narrativity also functions as its very building block. Thanks to polysemy, bl…

A Navigation and Augmented Reality System for Visually Impaired People

2021

In recent years, we have assisted with an impressive advance in augmented reality systems and computer vision algorithms, based on image processing and artificial intelligence. Thanks to these technologies, mainstream smartphones are able to estimate their own motion in 3D space with high accuracy. In this paper, we exploit such technologies to support the autonomous mobility of people with visual disabilities, identifying pre-defined virtual paths and providing context information, reducing the distance between the digital and real worlds. In particular, we present ARIANNA+, an extension of ARIANNA, a system explicitly designed for visually impaired people for indoor and outdoor localizati…

Naśladowanie Boga w Jego miłosierdziu (Łk 6, 36-38)

2016

In Lukes text (6:36-38) the reference of the judgement occurs in the conversion context of Gods charity(mercy). This motive is referred to the relation man-man and deals with judging others. Passing judgements on other peoples behaviour is an eschatological consequence as the same will be done by God after mans death. If people imitate Gods charity (mercy) in the relationship to other people they can accept it that God will treat them charitable. The verb Kptnc has a charity (mercy) aspect in this relation. Charity (mercy) may be defined as mans priority in this ethical behaviour.

Need for closure moderates the break in the message effect

2016

Abstract Cutting the message into smaller portions is a common practice in the media. Typically such messages consist of a headline followed by a story elaboration. In a series of studies Dolinski and Kofta (2001) have shown that such a break in the message increases the effect of the information provided in the headline over that of a story which actually contained information inconsistent with that headline. A possible explanation of this effect, based on the concept of the need for cognitive closure, is presented in the article. The experiment shows the break-in-the-message effect is found mainly for participants with high need for closure but not for those with low such need.

A novel technique for opus vermiculatum mosaic rendering

2006

In this paper we present a method to generate a digital mosaic starting from a raster input image. Mosaics generation of artistic quality is challenging. The basic elements, the tiles, typically small polygons, must be packed tightly, emphasizing orientations chosen by the artist. An adhoc boundaries detection have to be performed according to the directional guidelines. Different mosaic styles can be automatically rendered, depending on artistic techniques considered (“opus musivum”, “opus vermiculatum”, etc.). The proposed method is able to reproduce the colors of the original image emphasizing relevant boundaries by placing tiles along their direction. The boundaries detection is based o…

Mechanisms of cell death in canine parvovirus-infected cells provide intuitive insights to developing nanotools for medicine

2010

Jonna Nykky, Jenni E Tuusa, Sanna Kirjavainen, Matti Vuento, Leona GilbertNanoscience Center and Department of Biological and Environmental Science, University of Jyväskylä, FinlandAbstract: Viruses have great potential as nanotools in medicine for gene transfer, targeted gene delivery, and oncolytic cancer virotherapy. Here we have studied cell death mechanisms of canine parvovirus (CPV) to increase the knowledge on the CPV life cycle in order to facilitate the development of better parvovirus vectors. Morphological studies of CPV-infected Norden laboratory feline kidney (NLFK) cells and canine fibroma cells (A72) displayed characteristic apoptotic events. Apoptosis was f…

Matemātiskās morfoloģijas operatoru lietojumi attēlu apstrādē

2021
