La exploración clínico-funcional aporta las claves para el diagnóstico de las afecciones cardíacas. Si bien la Anamnesis es el procedimiento diagnóstico primario, se precisan exploraciones complementarias para realizar un correcto diagnóstico diferencial. Abstract In copolymerization of ethylene (E) with tri-alkenyl-silsesquioxanes (POSS-6-3 and POSS-10-3) were used bis(phenoxy-imine) titanium, zirconium and vanadium catalysts, as well as salen-type vanadium catalysts. There were obtained copolymers with POSS-R-3 units as side branches of polymer chains. The type of employed bis(phenoxy-imine) titanium, zirconium and vanadium catalysts and salen-type catalyst of vanadium determined the copolymer chain termination reactions, as well as the mechanism of modification of the active species by the POSS-R-3 comonomer. X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) is a rare neurodegenerative disease caused by deficiency of the peroxisomal half-transporter ABCD1, implicated in very long chain fatty acids import. Two additional half-transporters are located in the peroxisomal membrane: ABCD2 and ABCD3. Over-expression of ABCD2 is known to compensate for ABCD1 deficiency, making ABCD2 a therapeutic target for X-ALD treatment. ABSTRACT PspA, IM30 (Vipp1) and LiaH, which all belong to the PspA/IM30 protein family, form high molecular weight oligomeric structures. For all proteins membrane binding and protection of the membrane structure and integrity has been shown or postulated. Here we discuss the possible membrane chaperoning activity of PspA, IM30 and LiaH and propose that larger oligomeric structures bind to stressed membrane regions, followed by oligomer disassembly and membrane stabilization by protein monomers or smaller/different oligomeric scaffolds.

Age-related neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson’s disease take an enormous toll on individuals and on society. Despite extensive efforts, Parkinson’s disease remains incurable and only very limited treatments exist. Indeed, Parkinson’s pathogenesis is still not clear and research on its molecular mechanisms is ongoing. Similar to its bacterial homolog GroEL, Hsp60 in oligomeric conformation is known to work as a folding machine, with the assistance of co-chaperonin Hsp10 and ATP. However, recent results have evidenced that Hsp60 can stabilize aggregation-prone molecules in the absence of Hsp10 and ATP by a different, “holding-like” mechanism. Here, we investigated the relationship between the oligomeric conformation of Hsp60 and its ability to inhibit fibrillization of the Ab40 peptide. The synthesis, structural, thermal, and magnetic properties of a series of simple binary organic salts based on the radical anion of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and 4-(N-alkylpyridinium-3-yl)-1,2,3,5-dithiadiazolyl (DTDA), 1R (R = Et, Pr, Bu), radical cations and their heavier selenium analogues (DSDA), 2R, are described.
