Increase of sulfite tolerance in Oenococcus oeni by means of acidic adaptation

International audience; Sulfite is an antimicrobial agent used at the beginning of winemaking to avoid development of undesirable microorganisms. However, Oenococcus oeni, which is mainly responsible for the malolactic fermentation, has to grow in wine and therefore has to be resistant to sulfite. This study showed that acid-adapted cells of O. oeni survived better than non-adapted cells in the presence of a high sulfite concentration (30 mg l-1). Addition of a sub-lethal concentration of sulfite (15 mg l31) during the adaptation step in acidic medium increases the sulfite tolerance. Industrial production of dried yeast: plasma membrane as a survival indicator of air drying process

They are also the source of reactive oxygen species that cause damage to the biochemical components of the cell and lead to cellular ageing and death. Estimation of the mean crystal size and the moments of the crystal size distribution in batch crystallization processes

International audience; A cascade high gain observer is designed to estimate the first four leading moments of the crystal size distribution (CSD) and the mean crystal size in batch crystallization processes. The proposed observer is based on a well-known transformation of the partial differential equation describing the CSD to a set of ordinary differential equations (the method of moments). As Adhesion GPCRs increasingly receive attention from a wide spectrum of biomedical fields, the Adhesion GPCR Consortium, together with the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification, proposes a unified nomenclature for Adhesion GPCRs. CD36 and two G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR), i.e., GPR120 and GPR40, have been implicated in the gustatory perception of dietary fats in rodents. These glycoproteins are coupled to increases in free intracellular Ca²⁺ concentrations, [Ca²⁺](i), during their activation by dietary long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). International audience; Although Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of product mean scores is most often used to generate a product map from sensory profiling data, it does not take into account variance of product mean scores due to individual variability. Canonical Variate Analysis (CVA) of the product effect in the two-way (product and subject) multivariate ANOVA model is the natural extension of the classical univariate approach consisting of ANOVAs of every attribute.
